Sanctuary is a new project working with Edmund de Wall and the Schwarzman Centre, asking artists to explore their concept of sanctuary through sound.

Together, we will create a long-form sound installation that expresses the essence of “sanctuary” – where sanctuary can be found, how it sounds, and what it feels like. The final work will be presented in the Schwarzman Centre Black Box, as an accompaniment to Edmund de Waal’s another hour.

The project will launch on 10 January 2027, the 100th anniversary of the film’s world premiere in Berlin, with special premiere screenings in December 2025. It's a first for Cities and Memory, and a first for Metropolis - so get involved: citiesandmemory.com/metropolis/
