May I please suggest that you remove the 2 Happy Hours per weekend use limit so that people like me can get to use them? Thanks

Is there an expiry date for the earned Happy Hours? There is a mention "between now and 1st November" but only in the context of Power Downs. I have 10 Happy Hours which might be impossible to use before 1 November since there is a limit of 2 per weekend.

Notification email usually comes a few hours before; plenty of time to opt in. I also had some app notifications so maybe you need to check your app notifications settings

I absolutely love this! Brilliant idea. I even unplugged the fridge for that free hour of EV charging 😁

I've had this too. It will correct itself after a while and show the actual savings. At least it did for me.

I love this new system with Power Up/Down and Weekend Happy Hours. Great idea, give a pat on their back to whomever came up with that. One hour of free electricity is meaningful and concrete, unlike X amount of Octopoints. A very good motivation to unplug some things.

Secret Garden - Series 1: 1. Oxfordshire
David Attenborough reveals the lives of kingfishers, otters and other animals whose home is a river garden. Life here seems idyllic, but all are at the mercy of seasonal floods.

You can't just decide to close us bases overnight. Threatening to do so is the kind of thing Trump would do. Thankfully he's not going to that level. UK-US relationship will still be there after Trump leaves office

What I meant was, if a lower standing charge were imposed by the regulator, it would be fairer between providers, and comparing them would be easy. If Octopus were to charge lower standing charges now, which it is free to do on any of its tariffs, it would have to offset that with a higher unit rate
100
Ciprian Cucuruz @ciprian.uk · 06/04/2026
A change to standing charges would have to come from the regulator
100
Ciprian Cucuruz @ciprian.uk · 06/04/2026
If Octopus would lower the standing charge, they would have to put up the unit tariff which would possibly make them appear more expensive in comparison sites. A while back there was a supplier with zero standing charges and they went bust, probably due to more complex reasons.

It's always the animals that have to adapt/change, and never the humans. How about imposing harsh fines in specific areas so that drivers change instead. How distracted can a driver be to not see an animal that usually lays still, frightened on the road?

The Octopus Go tariff might seem cheaper but it's for fewer each day. The Cosy is really the one to go for if you have a heat pump, I think. Though Agile could work too, but it would be very unpredictable

No, please don't. That's private. It was your comparison to a four bedroom house that made me a bit skeptical about your claim. It's not the bedrooms that use electricity, it's the people, so referring to number of bedrooms is irrelevant, I think. But sounds like you properly diagnosed this.
000
Ciprian Cucuruz @ciprian.uk · 08/03/2025
Ok, sounds like reasonable steps to take to diagnose. Just a thought: could it be a garage or annexe that might have a separate circuit from the meter. I also heard stories of electricians mixing the wires of neighbours in terraced houses. It's very odd a meter would keep ticking without any load.

Genuinely curious, how do you know your meter is overcharging you? Did you get a CT clamp reading? Did you disconnect everything and tested with things you know for sure how much power they draw? Seems very vague to say my usage resembles a four bedroom house.

There are tariffs specifically designed for heat pumps and EVs with unit price as low as 7p/kwh at certain times of the day and/or night.

Get a second opinion. Some installers are used to old gas boiler principles where they oversize the system by a factor of 2x or more. My gas boiler is 30kW for some reason, but a 6kW heat pump would be plenty

Ciprian Cucuruz @ciprian.uk · 04/02/2025
I had a heat pump install quote from Octopus of just £500. That's toatal cost kf parts and labour, including new radiators. Just saying...
