@itsflanoy.bsky.social It is currently 96 degrees here in Sacramento. A gray squirrel just flounced into my back yard and flung himself down in the cool grass to rest. All stretched out, and his tail might challenge McQ's.

Ahem. We still have a princess phone. Officials discovered that during wildfires, cell phone towers burn, these guys' lines are underground so you get alerts. My husband refuses to get rid of it. (We have never had a wildfire near us.)

We finally decided to hit Klinker Brick today. The VorgÄnger Blend is a great, light summer wine. We go two bottles. After tasting that and a Limited Production flight- I will be heading back for 1850 blend.

The 1st is the recipe I use, sorry for the pencil, I was in a hurry on the day I copied it. The 2nd, looking at the ingredients is probably more breadlike. Pro tip-if you have a quart measuring cup, measure the milk, then the vegetable oil in it, they add the egg- mix and pour into dry ingredients.

Ours had the radio on the upper right front, with the record player in a drawer underneath. I almost played my Little Red Riding Hood 45 until the grooves wore out on it. We had a stack of these guys that you had to set on a hard surface to get them to stay.

You know it is hot out when you have a squirrel splooting in the damp area next to a tree you watered this morning. He is also within easy reach of the water I put out for the birds. Currently 102 with 17% humidity.

Books are sacred. I have a few of my MIL's old books. The cover page of the grammar book has a name and the date of 1885. The bindings are falling apart, but the books are still whole and worth keeping.

My exciting day was cleaning my oven and putting my mandarin tree in bondage. The squirrels are stealing all the mandarins that aren't even ripe. Last year, they took all of them early, as well. This year, with any luck, and a net, we will have some in late fall.

Because it is hot out and I should want to eat light, I got a craving for brownies. I looked up one of my recipes, and then, in a moment of inspiration, I looked up an old frosting recipe. Good lord, it was so good, and really rich. A small piece is plenty for now.
