I miss 80s television, because by now, on Sunday night, we would have Morgan Fairchild playing a lesbian nightclub owner attending clown school as her bar implodes.

How a survey of over 2,000 women in the 1920s changed the way Americans thought about female sexuality
A century ago, a pioneering sex researcher challenged the idea that respectable women did not – and should not – experience sexual desire or have sex, except to please men or have children.

Over six months, we tracked the appearance of child sexual abuse material on X. We found images from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's database, which is considered one of the most highly vetted and which many tech companies block on upload. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/11/t...

Reviews by the Canadian Center for Child Protection and The New York Times found that explicit images of children remain on the social media site owned by Elon Musk.

*incredibly ugly wheezing sound* Jee-sus christ theplaylist.net/paul-schrade...
But speaking this weekend with The Playlist in Venice following the premiere of “The Basics of Philosophy,” Schrader offered a much more revealing explanation for how “Three Guns At Dawn” reached that point.

“I had originally written it about three Black brothers, all of whom are bad guys: a corrupt cop, a drug dealer, and a sexual criminal,” Schrader explained. “And they were all trying to kill each other. And Antoine Fuqua was going to produce it.”

According to Schrader, he and Fuqua then approached actors with the project and ran into a fundamental problem.

“We sent it out to actors, and no Black actors wanted to play in a movie where there are no good Black people,” he said. “And it sort of died. But then AI came along, and I didn’t need Black actors.”

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
Not only is this system astonishingly untested, USPS has simultaneously implemented an
impracticable zero percent failure rate.
13 When ballots are submitted to USPS in large-volume
batches, if any one ballot in the batch cannot be verified against the Portal, all ballots in that
batch will be rejected. For example, if a state election official brings a batch of 10,000 ballots to
USPS and USPS is unable to match just one of those ballots against the Portal – because, for
example, someone has recently changed their name after marriage or they’ve moved – then
USPS would refuse to mail the remaining 9,999 ballots as well. As the whistleblower notes,

While we're on the subject, I have to share one of my favorite food factoids. Pizza Hut was the major purchaser of kale by a wide margin in the 1980s. They used it to line their salad bars for other ingredients. (No one wanted to eat kale then!)
