Just watched two wildly different horror films in a row that riff on the PSYCHO shower scene. Fun.
A poster for I SAW WHAT YOU DID (1965) with Joan Crawford and someone holding a telephone receiver.A poster for SHAUN THE SHEEP: THE BEAST OF MOSSY BOTTOM (2026) with a sheep holding some purple potion in a spooky lab.

I will have very little time to do a curated horror viewing this month but these lists are always fun so I'll give it a go for 2026. Here's last year's effort.

For the past five or so years we have opened Halloween with a double legacy sequel night. This year we bucked the trend with two banger originals. Right choice.

Was gonna change my Letterboxd top four faves to horror but I'd need to have the first three PSYCHO movies and.... maybe I can't do that?

Farewell to Marina Vlady, who won a Best Actress Award in Cannes for her turn in Marco Ferreri’s THE CONJUGAL BED (1963) but is surely best known for her Juliette in Jean-Luc Godard’s 2 OR 3 THINGS I KNOW ABOUT HER (1967). She was 88. www.yahoo.com/entertainmen...

It's Ida Lupino and George Raft in 1972. Ida Lupino is saying "rude slob!" because a guy (Alan Arkin) stole their car from a gas station, gas pipe and all.

Paused and unintentionally captured this utterly beautiful image (so perfectly composed it could be a cross-fade) in BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK (1955).

Once more I was up in Castlemaine today to watch Letty Lynton, a Joan Crawford film finally freed from 90 years of copyright purgatory and back on the big screen and let me tell you THE COSTUMES! JOAN’S EYEBROWS! THE DELICIOUS PRE-CODE ENDING OF GETTING OFF SCOT FREE! WHATTA PICTURE!
Joan Crawford in THE Letty Lynton dress that apparently caused a frenzy of millions of copies being produced. It’s a big, white, fluffy organza number with huge layered puffy sleeves and sheer layers of skirts ending in undulating ruffles.Joan in a gold lamé number and a tiny tilted black cloche hat sitting and looking miserable as Nils Asther leans over from behind and clutches her by the upper arms because he’s a CAD who WON’T LEAVE HER ALONE! There is a bottle of champagne in a bucket in a little sidetable next to Joan that may well become a vehicle for MURDER.Robert Montgomery and Joan Crawford flop about each other in a promotional still for Letty Lynton. I’m mainly including this one for Joan’s boat-themed costume, which has rather big nautical bunting flags around the neckline. She does indeed wear this dress on a boat in the film.
