Non-US sellers: US Customs & Border Protection is telling folks that it is ok to use the real product price as the customs-declared price whenever you need to add the tariffs to the item price Etsy forum thread Thanks to Tracy from Pooch & Tabby for the info!
Screenshot, Etsy forum
"PoochandTabby

I don't know if this will help anyone else, but pet products are included on the list, so my sector is going to be affected. Initially I added the tariff to the shipping price because I was worried about having to pay tariff on the price + tariff if I included it in the price.

I did some research of previous CROSS rulings and the applicable law, and found two rulings that included DDP and how it was handled from the invoicing perspective.

I emailed the US CBP department that focuses on handling e-commerce and stated my online marketplace does not provide a mechanism to separately identify import duties, so if the tariff is 50%, if can I provide a separate commercial/customs invoice showing $20 merchandise value + $10 actual import duty, and declare $20 as the customs value, when the marketplace receipt shows a flat $30 for the merchandise.

I used the application of 19 U.S.C. §1401a(b)(3)(B) as it applies to a DDP shipment and CBP rulings H304314 and H305053 as references and specifically said I'm not asking for a tariff classification or duty-rate determination (because sometime they'll kick you to submitting a CROSS ruling, which can take, at least 45 days), I just want guidance on this marketplace/e-commerce situation.

They were super quick to reply (within 24 hours ) and let me know that it was acceptable to add the tariff to the price of the item on the marketplace, then use a separate commerical/customs invoice in the package to breakout the price, despite what the etsy invoice states. So I now have an email from US CBP that states that I can do this for my US sales, if any issues arise in the future.

If anyone else wants to contact US CBP and get some info or to pose a similar question and get guidance in writing, you can email the E-Commerce and Small Business branch at ecommerce [at] cbp.dhs.gov."

Hi there,

We’re writing to let you know about upcoming tariff changes that may affect sellers shipping orders to the US, especially when using national postal carriers.

What’s changing

Right now, tariffs on packages sent to the US are calculated differently depending on the shipping service. Starting July 24, shipments sent through national postal services will be calculated more like courier shipments, which are sent through private or express shipping companies.

That means tariff rates may vary based on the type of item you're shipping, not just the country of origin.

For many shops, that means the tariff amount may change, with potentially different percentage rates for different types of products. In some cases, costs may increase. Carriers are expected to start applying the new rates a few days before July 24, likely around July 21.

To prepare, we recommend taking these steps:

Use the tariffs estimator in Shop Manager to review current courier estimates for items you ship to the US. Since postal rates will soon be calculated more like courier rates, current courier estimates can help you prepare before updated postal rates appear in the estimator on July 21.

Based on the estimated courier rates, review and adjust your US-specific listing prices before July 21 so you're ready before carriers are expected to start collecting the updated rates.

Check the tariffs estimator again on July 21, when updated postal estimates are expected to be finalized.

Review your item details and update any HS codes that may be inaccurate. Accurate HS codes are especially important because tariff rates may vary by item type.

We know changing trade requirements can be difficult to navigate. We’ll continue sharing updates as more information becomes available.

For more information on tariffs, pricing strategies, and shipping options, visit our guide in the Seller Handbook."

Reminder that the end of de minimis in the EU means new fees as of July 1; contact your carriers for more info on how they are handling it. Here's Etsy's announcement #ecommerce
Screenshot, Etsy.
"new fees for buyers in France and the European Union.
France import fee
On March 1, 2026, France introduced a €2 import fee on certain low-value goods imported from outside the EU as part of its 2026 Finance Bill. In connection with this new law, Etsy will collect this fee from eligible buyers and remit to the French authorities.

In the coming weeks, the €2 fee, plus VAT, will be added at checkout per unique listing when all of these apply:
The order ships to France
The order ships from outside the EU
The total combined value of the items (excluding shipping) is under €150
EU customs fee
Separately, on July 1, 2026, the EU will introduce a €3 customs fee on similar low-value imports as part of Council Regulation 2026/382.
Starting July 1, while carriers start to operationalize the new regulation, the €3 customs fee per unique item per package is expected to be collected at label creation or, in some cases, from the buyer upon delivery when all of these apply:
The order ships to an EU country
The order ships from outside the EU
The total value of the items (excluding shipping) is under €150
Unlike the France import fee, Etsy isn’t currently collecting the EU customs fee at checkout. ...
the EU customs fee may affect your shipping costs and fulfillment for eligible orders. Many carriers are expected to require upfront fee payment at label creation, also known as Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), to reduce friction at delivery and avoid surprise charges for buyers. Some carriers may begin collecting the €3 fee before July 1 for shipments expected to arrive after the deadline. Additionally, not all carriers may be ready to support EU shipping on day one.
We recommend checking with your preferred carrier ahead of July 1 to understand how they'll be handling collection and any associated costs.
Keep in mind that both the France import fee and the EU customs fee will be charged once per unique listing in an order, even if a buyer purchases multiple..."

UPDATE: these lower USPS Ground Advantage rates for larger packages are correct, as confirmed by Pirate Ship (see screenshot) & eBay: community.ebay.com/forum/news-u... #shipping #ecommerce

UPDATE from Pirate Ship I got a few mins ago.
"Thank you so much for taking the time to share those examples with me!

We took some time to look into this for you 🕵️‍♀️
"I am happy to report that this price difference you are seeing is related to a temporary rate change that USPS put into place today 6/22/26 that is decreasing the price of Ground Advantage Weight-Based, packages in the 3-5 lb range by an average of 36% 💸

I hope this information brings relief! The price you are seeing on the Buy Label page is accurate and correct.

We have yeRRRR back, Captain :raised-hands-pirate."

So it seems those lower rates are correct.
BUT you'd think USPS, eBay, Etsy, Pirate ship would have let sellers know this.
PS usually lets it's customers know a few days ahead of time about any price increase or decreases but not this time."

Etsy will require DDP shipping to the US (all tariffs and fees prepaid) as of July 9, 2026. Seller protection and other policies will now require this. I wonder if they will FINALLY fix the bugs in the Domestic and Global pricing tool? 🤔 #EtsySellerNews
Screenshot, Patreon post.

"indyLouWho2
June 09, 2026 at 11:24 AM

No one should be surprised by this:
Starting July 9, 2026, per Etsy's legal policy for sellers, section 1.c.9., every item shipped into the US must use DDP - no exceptions. Loss of seller protection is likely only one of the ways sellers will be affected, although I doubt that Etsy will strictly enforce this immediately for everything. (only seller protection is mentioned explicitly, so far) Shops that have other policy issues should expect careful scrutiny on this point right away, however.

While Etsy already had DDP shipping in the search algorithms, the weight of that factor will likely now increase. Other changes are likely coming as well. For example, I expect Etsy to make shipping prices an even bigger part of the algorithms now, since they don't want tariffs added to the shipping costs, and have made that clear from the beginning.

For those who don't have access to affordable DDP options, check to see if Etsy's label integrations now have something to help you, as they added several new ones recently, including some with DDP: https://www.etsy.com/seller-handbook/article/1266789873413

I will be taking a look through all of the policies to see what else changed - hope to get a full post out by the end of the day."

Updates to our Children and Baby Products policy
Hi sellers,

My name is Claudia and I lead Etsy’s Trust & Safety team. Today I’m sharing an update to Etsy’s Children and Baby Products policy, effective June 2, 2026.

We’re always working hard to keep Etsy a safe and trusted marketplace. One of the many ways we do this is by regularly reviewing and updating our policies to help protect the safety of our community, provide clearer, more consistent guidance for sellers, and keep pace with evolving industry standards.

As part of this, we’re making updates to our House Rules to strengthen our approach to safety and clarify which children’s products are not allowed on Etsy.

Here’s what’s being updated:

Clearer restrictions on products with small parts that may pose choking or ingestion risks

Updated examples of prohibited infant sleep furniture and accessories

Additional examples of prohibited items, such as infant neck flotation devices

Safety guidance for children’s apparel and related items

For full details, please review our updated House Rules. You can also find educational resources for listing children and baby products in our Seller Handbook guide.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We’ve heard your concerns and understand this change impacted how your prices are displayed to buyers. We’re actively testing and refining the experience to ensure it meets DMCC requirements while maintaining a good experience for sellers and buyers.

We’ll begin rolling out an update that returns your listing price (inclusive of VAT, where applicable) as the headline price. Just below, UK buyers will see the total price, including delivery and any sales you’re running.

This keeps your item price clear, while helping buyers understand the full cost upfront.

As before, the total may update at checkout if delivery details change or items qualify for combined shipping. If it does, buyers will always see the updated final price before completing their purchase.

Thank you again for your feedback. We’ll continue listening and sharing updates here."

Microbusinesses waiting to hear how they will get tariff refunds for the now-illegal US IEEPA tariffs: we'll likely have to wait a while longer. Here's the email I received from Zonos, who calculate and collect tariffs for many postal services, including Canada Post:

Hello Cindy,

Thanks for reaching out about CAPE and IEEPA tariff refunds. Here’s where things stand today.

At this point there isn’t a direct pathway for most merchants to file for IEEPA refunds through CAPE. CAPE is designed for the Importer of Record (IOR) on a shipment, and for commercial cross-border ecommerce shipments the carrier’s brokerage (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) is typically the IOR — not the merchant. Any filing would need to go through the carrier broker, and that process requires ACE portal registration and banking enrollment on the broker’s side.

For postal shipments, CAPE doesn’t currently apply. Postal shipments are submitted as a CSV file rather than as an ACE entry, and an ACE entry is a prerequisite for CAPE. CBP hasn’t announced a postal refund pathway yet.

We’re watching CBP’s guidance closely and will let you know as soon as there’s a clear, actionable path for refund claims.

Best regards,

For #ArtAdventCalendar Day 24, a photo taken 13 years ago today, the Bow River in the Rocky Mountains near the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, in Banff National Park, Alberta. Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!

I've been too busy to keep up with #ArtAdventCalendar for the past 2 weeks or so, but here's my entry for Day 20: aurora borealis, as seen from downtown Calgary in May 2024. Was amazed we could see them this well in the centre of the city!

For Day 4 #ArtAdventCalendar one of my favourite combinations: genuine crinoid fossil jasper in black, white and pink, with cherry "quartz" and hematite, for cute dangle earrings. More photos here. #SciArt #handmade

Day 2 #ArtAdventCalendar I used to make a lot of these dangle cluster earrings with peacock pearls and paua shells, because they complement each other perfectly. It's getting a bit hard for me to do the tiny wire wraps now, but I can still combine them in other ways! #handmade

I've been called out as an Etsy employee who could never criticize the corp 🤣🤣🤣 OP insists that "thousands" of sellers are being hurt by an Etsy issue that started Nov. 6, but I've only been able to verify a few dozen - & most of them were violating Etsy policies. Truth hurts, I guess? 🙄

"Do you work for Etsy, Cindy? because that's the only logical explanation for your post. I spent the last 4 days researching this, everything that I could find on the internet. A lot of people are desperate. Tens of thousands of dollars (to say the very least) were lost in this process. Do you understand this?
You should create something about Etsy's wrongdoings instead. Maybe with your help, the sellers will be compensated partially. But oh wait, you have a shop there, you can't say anything bad about Etsy right?
See, that's how a lot of Etsy sellers work, unfortunately. They are afraid to even fathom that the company ever made a mistake, because they're secretly afraid something will happen to their shop. They lose sense of fairness and justice, because they receive benefits from the other side. And that's a shame..."

To no one's surprise, the new version of Etsy's domestic and global pricing tool has some glitches, charging EU countries more than they should be. Etsy forum thread on the topic. 🙄 #EtsySellerNews
Screenshot of Etsy forum post

"Global Pricing issue in EU countries: VAT added twice and “everywhere else” prices ignored
Hello,

I recently enabled the “Domestic and global pricing” feature in my shop and entered different prices for Türkiye, the United States, and “everywhere else.”

However, in EU countries such as Germany, France, and the Netherlands, product prices are displayed incorrectly.
Even though the “everywhere else” prices were entered as tax-inclusive, Etsy seems to treat them as tax-exclusive and then adds VAT again during checkout.

As a result:

EU prices appear around 15–20% higher than intended

The cart shows an additional “Tax” line (for example, 40 USD + 7.60 USD tax = 47.60 USD)

The listing page still displays “Tax included (where applicable),” which is inconsistent with the calculation

It also seems that the EU prices are being derived from the US prices instead of the “everywhere else” column, so the regional pricing is not being applied at all.

This directly affects sales because EU buyers see inflated prices and often abandon their carts.

I already contacted Etsy Support and was told the issue was forwarded to the engineering team.
Since this appears to be a wider technical problem, I wanted to share it here so other sellers and staff can track it as well.

Example of the issue:

My set “everywhere else” price: 40 USD (tax included)

Displayed price in Germany: 47.60 USD (40 USD + 19% VAT added again)

Could you please share if there is any update or estimated time for a fix?

Thank you.

Is eBay hungry for new listings and sellers in some jurisdictions? I received an email last week exhorting me to list more - but I have never had a seller account. First time this has happened to me. (I am registered for seller news updates, though)

Etsy is once again allowing sellers to buy Canada Post labels on site. Note that there are still rotating Canada Post strikes which change every day, so there could be short delays. #EtsySellerNews
