Nice to watch a few blackcaps feeding well in Easington garden today. Merlin app up to its tricks - hawfinch flyover plausible, black kite less so. Typically both of those sound ID's happened when I was busy in the kitchen & not outside looking up. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social

6 x common buzzard & 2 x red kite near Sleddale this aft. Nice to get views of a kite on the ground so as to fully appreciate those lethal legs, feet & talons. Also large skein of pinkies heading inland over Easington garden at 17:30. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social

Golden plover at Margrove this evening. Very rare to see one there, possibly even rarer - I'm no expert at all but this bird seems to be showing traits of Pacific golden plover with its incredibly long legs & coarsely notched tail. Would value opinions. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social

Chinese character moth in kitchen last night. Though common & widespread it's actually the first I've ever seen. Famous for resting on branches & looking like a bird dropping so as to avoid predation. Remarkably beautiful up close. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social
