a photo of Náměstí Franze Kafky, Josefov, Prague 1, Franz Kafka Square, in the old Jewish quarter. Kafka was born on this square, which makes it something of a pilgrimage address.

there was a boarded-up currency exchange with its windows papered over from the inside, "0% POPLATKŮ / COMMISSION" and www.exchange.cz still visible, a couple of permits taped to the glass, graffiti tags creeping up the stonework, anti-pigeon spikes along the cornice, a loose blue cable looped on a nail.

soft late afternoon light is casting shadows towards the left

a photo, looking straight up into a Baroque dome of a church in Salzburg. standing directly under the oculus and pointing the camera at the ceiling. at the center, the Holy Spirit dove in a golden glory, rays radiating outward like a sunburst. the octagonal structure fans out around it: ribs, painted panels depicting biblical scenes, stucco angels perched on the cornices, and cartouches with Old Testament references: GEN.XXXVII, JEREM.XXXVII, DEVT.XXI, II.REG.XVI, all pointing inward toward the divine center.

the architecture in Salzburg generally gave me quite a bit of Gondor vibes. the white stones, the straight geometry. this particularly geometric piece struck me. a lot of the other churches around here are more gothic or more baroque. this one felt a bit (a very little bit) more simplistic with the geometry and all. but anyway the Holy Spirit here was so striking, how it still glows on the photo even. I found it remarkable
