Are you familiar with her case? Raped and abused as a child, she committed a single violent crime, in her teens, and has been on death row since. So I'd agree she committed a violent crime, the Jury said so. I would hesitate to define her by that single act but I understand that many do.

So, we get "Its unconstitutional for Congress to regulate voting and the Voting Rights Act of 1970 is moot", or "It *is* constitutional for Congress to regulate voting and our decisons on the VRA were wrong." It is going to be very hard I think to square that.

I think you under sell it 😀. I've read the finding 4 times now and it does a good job of laying out a solid constitutional argument. In particular, it sets up the argument that the more SCOTUS guts the VRA, the more it AFFIRMS this finding. Even Roberts might be able to weasel out of that.

I think you can substitute 'purity test' for 'antisemitism' there and it still works. Kind of like disowning the Bill of Rights in the Constitution because Madison owned slaves and endorsed slavery. Purity tests are ways to divide us and overlook our common interest.
