People seem to be complaining about Crows, and yet it's exactly in keeping with the OSR, a community where everyone and their dog writes their own warmed-over version of basic dnd with barely anything good added to it. Sometimes more than once!

Issue 1 is the rules and Issue 2 is character creation, so there's technically enough there to play already. I'm working on some adventure modules and monster manuals now, and will probably get those done before the full rules text.

Lots of archives love to make this claim. They own a physical piece of art (that is in the public domain) so they also say that their photos and scans of it (which are accurate representations) are not public domain, and that they own the copyright over them. No you fucking don't. Fuck you.

One of the claims Cleves made is "she stole my cover." These two covers are based on the same public domain image. You can copy a public domain image as much as you want! In any way you want to! Claiming ownership over public domain art is a thing that scumbags do.

Yeah, it's definitely a game for players that like to play out conflicts w/ each other. If people prefer characters cooperating, its never going to be their favourite. Though maybe re-framing conflicts to be more like contests, or Agon-style competitions, might alleviate some of the un-fun results.

You could try playing it GMless style, as an experiment. We used to do that before Apocalypse World came out. It really emphasizes the "knife fight between the PCs" aspect of the game.

I released revised versions of these zines to the patreon, after making changes based on the most recent playtest campaign. The Company of Monsters is a PbtA fantasy game where you play the monsters instead of the adventurers.

Possibly of interest but very obscure: Necromancies and Netherworlds by Darrell Schweizer and Jason Van Hollander. Short stories about a city where a revolution overthrows the ruling priest cast and forces them to auction off carpets that have their gods trapped inside them.
