Vladia's comments about parental discipline and rebellious teenagers/young adults are surprisingly insightful given how unconventional her own upbringing was.

I drew our dad for TFN (fingers crossed printshop is on my side of course) #Transformers #OptimusPrime
Optimus Prime having a chill time in the forest, birds flying around his hand. American Robin chills on a foreground tree. I wanted to draw a birb.

I don't know if anything "breaks", but if something had negative mass that would mean its mass was less than nothing, which obviously would be very strange.

I think sometimes some people are just looking for an excuse to be angry.

Meanwhile, I'm left handed and have always held the fork in my left hand. (Well, I suppose I could count as "mixed handed", but I usually prefer using my left hand for things that require fine control.)

Then it's put back together again (usually with a slightly different status quo), and the cycle repeats.

I keep a running shopping list, so I only need to keep empty containers long enough to remember to put the item on my list. Which is just as well, as visible reminders tend to just blend into the background for me after a few days.

I read the first three books back when that was all that had been released, but by that point I was tired of so many bad things happening to the handful of characters I liked, so I never bothered reading any more. Never checked out the show either.

Her body can also apparently compress and contort in unnatural ways, considering how small her morph ball form is generally depicted. Cybernetic modification would help explain that too.

There were a few individual strips that aged poorly, and today's kids might have a hard time identifying with a kid living before the age of smart phones and social media, but I don't see how anyone could turn that into a top 10 list without going out of their way to find things to complain about.

It may not succeed at changing what people want, but if it's close enough to what they already want, or if their options are limited enough, it might still succeed financially.

An option where Person B might have good motives: If the things Person A were thinking took away from their enjoyment of the story, Person B might be trying to encourage Person A to just relax and enjoy the story.

I base this largely on how in the original release of the manga it was implied that Haruka was genderfluid, and sometimes when she transformed her outfit looked like a white version of Tuxedo Mask's outfit. (Sadly this was changed in later releases.)

That hasn't been addressed directly in canon or in any interviews I'm aware of, but I suspect one's spirit matters more than one's body or presentation when it comes to Sailor transformations. So a trans-woman should be able to become a Sailor, regardless of whether or not they've transitioned.

(And before anyone brings up the Starlights, in the manga they were women who disguised themselves as men.)

To be more specific, in the manga he has the same connection to the Earth that the Sailor Senshi have to their planets, but he can't become Sailor Earth because only women can become Sailor Senshi.

I've seen most of the different cartoon shows and some of the comics, so I probably would have recognized a lot. On the other hand I have no interest in Magic the Gathering, and TMNT being in it didn't change that, so my nostalgia is a moot point.

This raises the question of whether any work set prior to the time a person is viewing it counts as a Period Piece, or if the work has to be set prior to the time it was made to count. A quick search suggests it gets used both ways (which is a little confusing).

She was temporarily turned into one in the second season of the 1987 cartoon series, in the episode "The Cat Woman of Channel Six". So far as I know (and much to my disappointment), that's the only time it's happened in an official work.

Also, last year I watched both English dubs and the Japanese version (with subtitles) of My Neighbor Totoro (a movie I'd seen many times before) in the space of a week. I enjoyed that so much that now I'm doing the same thing with the Gamera movies.

I also like to rewatch my favorite TV series, but since I prefer to go through an entire series from beginning to end without huge breaks, it can be hard to find time for them.

As a child I regularly rewatched my favorite movies every few months or even more often (there was one summer where I watched The Transformers The Movie roughly once a week); I still rewatch most of those old favorites plus my new favorites every few years.

Hmm... Soup is usually eaten warm. I wonder if warming up a soggy sandwich would make it less disgusting? Of course I'm not a huge fan of soup either, so I probably still wouldn't like it that much.

Whenever I encounter someone online who doesn't make what their gender is quite clear, I can't help but make a guess at it. There have been many times when I've later learned I guessed wrong.

It's also important to be careful that descriptions one intends to be poetic don't have an alternate, unintended, literal meaning (particularly in SciFi & Fantasy, where what could be possible is far greater than a real world setting).

90 seconds after waking up, I'm usually still debating whether or not to get up yet (even if I've had plenty of sleep and/or have something that needs to be done very soon); some days that state may last for several more minutes assuming I don't fall asleep again (which is common).

In response to the image rather than your random fact: Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I assumed the 2020s would either be a lot like the 80s/90s, or be a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

New on the Ponett Gazette: I reviewed Metroid Prime 4: Beyond! It's a very flawed game that clearly went through development hell, but ultimately I think it ended up being a *mostly* faithful and enjoyable new entry in the series. Mostly. ponett.dog/blog/mp4

This set of observations is produced by my scrolling Reddit and otherwise listening to people talk about "how to write." A) there is no requirement that any of your characters has any sort of "arc" let alone a redemption. B) there is also no requirement that your fiction has a plot.

Day 169: A nice, light-hearted one for hump day!
A full-page, single-panel comic drawn in primarily light inkwash lines with captions interspersed.
The top caption says "It's funny how tech CEO's promise that generative A.I. will reach sentience soon (it won't)"
The next caption is placed beside a message bubble that resembles a digital chat. The caption says "(Most of the large language models we see right now are just predictive text bots with an extra side of pollution) and the chat bubble reads "Pleasant Robot Girlfriend: Hi, Jeffrey! I love you. You should put glue on your pizza so the cheese sticks."
The next caption is in its own box in the middle of the panel and says "Because of course the dream is to replace annoying human workers who demand things like healthcare, a liveable wage, safety, dignity and respect."
Beneath that caption are 3 more captions, laid over a backdrop drawing of infinite identical humanoid robots staring pleasantly into space. The captions read, "But if these machine learning models COULD think, why would you expect an intelligent being to perform labor for free? It's almost as if the richest people in the world are constantly fantasizing about slavery."
Beneath the comic is my signature (Kat Baumann), today's date (6-18-2025) and the time I spent drawing this (50 minutes)
