I spent today climbing Sonnwendstein as a lovely post-conference excursion. I also befriended an 81 year old Austrian mountain enthusiast, got caught in alpine weather, and discussed the hut systems through written notes because it was easier than verbal communication.

When you wake up and your models set to run overnight all fail because the supercomputer goes offline, it's like losing your wallet (a recoverable inconvenience). If those same models all finish overnight, it's like winning the lottery (more data than manageable at once). What a roller coaster 😬
