ECMAScript excitement 😉 Congrats to @chronicles.org on meeting the conditions for Explicit Resource Management to be Stage 4 at @tc39.es today 🎉 It introduces `using` declarations and the Symbol.dispose protocol to deterministically and ergonomically release resources 👍 github.com/tc39/proposa...

I saw Project: Hail Mary last Thursday and it blew me away. Easily among my top 10 favorite movies. I'd listened to Ray Porter's amazing narration of the novel a few years ago, so I'd been looking forward to the adaptation for a while. I'm curious how it held up for anyone who hadn't read the book.

After taking some time off and spending the summer with my kids before they go back to college, I'm happy to announce that I'll be starting a new role at F5 next week! Thanks to everyone that reached out over the past few months. I'm very much looking forward to what's next!

The storm that blew through PA knocked out power in my neighborhood and downed trees on the only two ways out. The trees have seen been cleared, but the estimate for power coming back up is *sunday*. No AC during the entirety of the heat advisory this weekend is not going to be fun.

After 18 years at Microsoft, with roughly a decade of that time working on TypeScript, I have unfortunately been let go in the latest round of layoffs. I need to take a few days to process before I start looking for work. Thanks to everyone who's been part of my journey so far.

New (and unfortunately expensive) hobby: Making dice. This was my first good set (though the third attempt) and was a gift to my daughter.
Hand crafted resin dice. Half of each die is transparent resin with purple glitter, the other half is a swirl of purple and violet. The numbers on each die are inked in yellow acrylic paint. There is a single tear drop D4, four D6, and one of each D8, D10, D%, D12, and D20.

My 3D printing hobby has now evolved beyond a shelf in my office to it's own space in the basement. Still a work in progress, but I just finished setting up a fume ventilation system for my new Elegoo Saturn 4. Also pictured is my old Ender 3 Pro. #3dprinting

I need to get a new smooth PEI build plate for my Bambu Lab X1C. Any other #3dprinting enthusiasts have suggestions for third party build plates? Bambu is experiencing shipping delays and I need to finish a few prints before Christmas.

I have been without power since about 10am this morning. Luckily my generator still works, so I was able to get internet back up to attend TC39 in the morning, but the rest of my day was spent installing a transfer switch so I could power my furnace and well pump.

Getting ready to put up holiday decorations. Just a few more pieces to print.
First few pieces printed for a giant Lego wreath. Shows two giant green Lego pine boughs, four giant round white single-stud Lego, five red, and three yellow, and a red Lego bow3D printer laying down the first layer of a giant Lego pine branch for the wreath.

Having gained 200+ followers in the last 24 hours, now would be a good time to reintroduce myself. I've been at Microsoft for over 17 years with the better part of the last decade working on @TypeScript and I'm thankful to have been a part of Microsoft's OSS journey. 1/2

My hobby project for the next few weeks: an Arduino sensor kit to monitor my 3D printer enclosure for Temperature, Humidity, VOCs (volatile organic compounds), and ultrafine particulates, as well as to control LED lighting and the fan to a HEPA/carbon filtration system. #3dprinting #arduino
Components in order, starting from the top-left:

Seeedstudio XIAO ESP32S3 Arduino microcontroller and WiFi antenna, Grove shield, Relay, LED Light Strip driver, two Blue LED buttons, 1.2" ST7789 RGB OLED Display, I2C Hub, SHT31 Temperature and Humidity sensor, SGP41 VOC/NOx gas sensor, and a HM3301 air quality sensor (PM2.5)
