I regret asking the clunker (GPT5.6 Terra) to help with syncing the README.md file of my repo with the existing codebase. It now speaks like a lawyer or a drug commercial

Why #microbenchmarks require statistical analysis. The screenshots are results from my repo github.com/chrisarg/bench_popcount of alternative computational for the popcounts under different optimization. (-O0, -O3, -O3 -flto). Is it the algorithm, the compiler or noise the driver? #hpc

I have been exploring a somewhat exotic neurosymbolic pipeline and I asked the crucial question (this is Gemini Pro btw). Gemini saw the light of the one true glue language ie #Perl with that one (The context of the preceding prompts were about perfoemance)

Gemini is cooking with gas today and the reason I shifted to Gemini (because Google has better access to the deep vaults of the internet) but note my guardrails. This is a niche field which was dominated by Soviet scientists for decades. Unlocking the lit will allow proper credit

Still remain undetermined about the #fpga to path to follow. While I will most certainly get the NANDLAND go as a starter , I am totally undecided about the next one: Altera, Xilinx and Lattice all seem equally viable 😭😭😭

This is a very nice book about learning to program the hardware in #FPGA. Well written, great educational approach and you can pick a credit card board to implement the examples (from blinking to gaming) for 50 to 80 bucks.

Interesting but can you guess when I switched to Raptor mini and when Copilot tried to ⬆️ billing ? #AI Use #RaptorMini as 1) Ask HOW under specs 2) Plan the implementation but ask the bot to ask for clarifications 3) Implement with Agent mode or DIY (best for self improvement)

I love #LLM s ... the coding equivalent of "is this mushroom safe to eat" , followed by a smiling LLM over the user's grave saying "you were right, do you want to know of any mushroom recipes"? OpenMP vs CUDA / HIP reveal how shallow the stochastic parrots really are

The #reproducibility of p-valies is terrible (we derived the distribution of p values for GLMs with Andy Grieve through a Bayesian interpretation (π letter) here: arxiv.org/abs/2305.00636). I don't understand why people keep noise mining p's #stats Formula & graph 👇

Installing the RTX 5090 in a FIPS Ubuntu system (before you get blocked , we only have approvals for 22.04 and Redhat here and I value my sanity) was a major pain in the butt since nvidia-smi would not find the card going through the repo drivers. But manual install worked

I am increasingly using a macro to optimize allocations in #C #Clang code either in stand alone C, or when writing #rstats and #perl extensions. The macro (the screeenshot for #perl is shown below) allocates on the stack unless one wants something big

It is insane, that #Intel kneecapped i7's for scientific work. The 11th gen i7 offered the AVX512 instruction set which DOUBLED throughput compared to the 10th 7 the 12th gen. To get the same throughput that this i7 delivers in our RNAseq workflows, one has to pay $$$ for a Xeon
