My 12 year old came home with his school bag full of conkers yesterday. I'm pretty sure he's never played the game without my prompting, but the urge to collect them is obviously strong.

I'm really impressed by the improvised broom handle the guys working on my roof are using.
A broom with a handle made from two lengths of construction wood screwed together rests against a brick wall.

I haven't been to the train station for a while. Today I noticed that LNER have added sign language to their departure boards. I'm intrigued by the technical aspects, and impressed at the effort to make the service accessible to more people.

Alright, I reckon this is a cheese and onion slice. Steak is too expensive for these lads.

@boarsgoreswords.bsky.social I wouldn't call that a "pie", maybe a pasty? Although it looks like the UK bakery chain "Greggs" has got the pastry contract from Weyland www.greggs.com/menu?categor...

Reminds me of this book Headley bought for me 20 plus years ago
A yellow book cover: "Tales of a Young Urban Failure" by Erik Moe. A cartoon. Man lies on a sofa. He is holding a bottle, two empty bottles lie on the floor next to a packet of chips. A small TV is also on the floor.

Reminds me of the old Royal Opera House titles drop down. I hurried to web.archive.org to have a look at their 2010 site. web.archive.org/web/20100622...

@richardjamesfoster.bsky.social apropos of nothing, not sure you'll be that interested, but here's a unit of Corsican Rangers I finished painting last night.

I'm very much enjoying the folk horror vibes of the most recent 'Severance'.

Can I pick your brains please. Would you recommend this for a mini sized cuboid? Like it's encased in ice. I want to build a 'Commander Powell' from Dark Star.

My kids are enjoying the 'Gladiators' reboot. I realised last night it demonstrates the UK's weird (schizophrenic?) relationship with metric. Will we ever shake off measuring our height and weight in imperial?
