I think I found my people at the Word on the Street book festival today. Speculative climate fiction, maybe not so good fairies and tough women warriors despite the odds? Yup, I’ve good some great new reads. cc @stelliform.press @dylanmadeley.bsky.social

Had fun getting gussied up for my younger cousin’s wedding party last night after she told us, as the elder queers, to turn it tf out. lol I have never worn satin, a pussy bow or carried a clutch before and last night I did all three and felt fabulous and unstoppable. 🫳
Two men dressed up and standing a dark theatre with red and purple lighting.

My shirt, on the left has a huge bow and there are several brooches pinned to it and I am carrying a red clutch purse.
My partner, on the right, is wearing a dark grey suit with a black sequined top underneath.

Because for gay lawnbowling tournaments we become Grecian-esque flower fairies apparently? TBH the costumes got away from us a bit other than “add more flowers!” and “filmy swishy dresses-capes”. 🌸🫳

Cutie short king behind the counter at the bakery when I asked for a baguette said “chef made them different today, do you want one that is long and skinny or…” pauses and looks up at me “short and girthy”. Fam, I chose short and girthy and gave him the naughtiest I see you wink ever. 🫳

Tonight, the wonderful team of weirdos from Queers and Steers put on a celebration of life-funeral for Dolly Parton. We came together in queer community with a marching band, a wreath of blonde wigs, a pink coffin and pallbearers in assless chaps and we sang and danced and said our Dolly-luias.

Pissed off at our idiot and asshole premier Doug Ford for fighting in court to remove bike lanes and #criticalmass rallied more than a few of us cyclists to show up and protest. Oh and look, we took over the whole damn lane.

So cute, went to see Twelfth Night at Dream in High Park with my theatre girlies tonight. Only understood about half of the dialogue, it’s been ages since I have seen a Shakespeare play and my brain is mush from work these days. But I sure understood the shirtless men “wrestling” and bawdy winks.

Managed to snag a perfect beach day! Enjoying my last week of unexpected vacation to the fullest before the new job starts next week. Excited for that but I still will enjoy this time off to the max.

I bought another flat of strawberries today, some of the most perfect jewel-y berries ever and they were perfectly ripe and sweet. I’ve got more jam on the go, have some to eat fresh, some in the freezer and made another pie. Strawberry & peach this time with the last of my canned peaches.

When the temps hit 36° and feel like 48°, you drive your baby Italian car to get the best damn Italian gelato in town. It is so hot, we went back in for seconds as soon as we finished the first. Also for Pride they made some gelato popsicles shaped like David’s bum. 😈😎

I have waited TWO YEARS to catch this seasonal flavour again at Moon Milk. It is orange buttermilk and tastes like a grown up version of the orange sherbet that I was obsessed with as a kid. It is prefect and they maybe make it for a week or two each year.

When the bf leaves for an early morning car errand as you are making coffee, he didn't offer and you didn't ask but you don't make breakfast too and then sip your coffee slowly hoping he'll bring a fun pastry treat home for your breakfast from the good French bakery.

Hello I am obsessed with Linnea Sterte's work.
A blue-toned ink illustration in a Japanese woodblock-inspired style. A frog wearing a checkered kimono strides forward carrying a large leafy plant over its shoulder, with speech bubbles reading "HELLO!" and "HI!" A smaller frog struggles beneath a large, netted gourd or melon, saying "UMF." In the background, a tiny figure rolls a large circular object. From A Frog in the Fall by Linnea Sterte.A blue-toned ink drawing of a small frog clinging to the side of a large, textured melon or gourd hanging from a vine, surrounded by broad leaves and curling tendrils. The frog wears a dark cap and presses its head against the fruit. Hand-lettered text reads "(LISTENING TO THE MELON.)" and "A SWEET UNEARTHLY MUSIC EMANATES FROM INSIDE THE GOURD." Went on a terrific Jane’s Walk this morning, Toronto in Print, and learned so much and maybe am even more angry about ai somehow too? It was a fascinating talk connecting the history of printmaking, labour movements and activism. IDK, hug your fave indie printmakers and printing houses I guess.

Changing my bike tires for the season and went in fully confident having done this many times before. Get part way through and suddenly cannot remember a thing as it’s been a few years at least. Fingers and tire levers akimbo and I fire up a YouTube tutorial and it all comes back in a second.

I have had a truly brutal week at work but, I am on a train rushing through ever deepening fog to meet a good friend to see a concert, I have book to read and more fun plans for the weekend. So, despite everything that conspired to make my week lousy I’m choosing fun and queer joy. 😎✌️
