As much as I think this is entirely unnecessary and probably a bad idea, I am taking a certain perverse joy in trying to figure out how you would even attempt to fill Duvall and Jones' tremendous boots. Maybe Ethan Hawke for Gus and Michael Shannon for Call? deadline.com/2026/09/lone...

LA, come see one of the great seduction scenes in all of cinema, on the big screen. Cut by one of the best to ever do it; the lady who gave us the Lawrence of Arabia Match Cut; Anne V. Coates. Rarely have two actors smouldered like Clooney and J.Lo do here. www.academymuseum.org/programs/det...

One of the little sung perks about when you are working on a studio lot is commissary breakfasts. It's like having a fairly decent diner a 5 min walk from where you're working.

Started S5 of For All Mankind last night, and so glad to be back in that world. The slow boil of each season progressively becoming more sci-fi has brought us to a proto-The Expanse world by the 2010s. Really excellent storytelling, scratching that DS9-era Trek itch that modern Trek has left behind.

@iamlazarusjones.bsky.social and I went to House of Kong last night, and it was so cool. Even I, a casual Gorillaz enjoyer, thought it was brilliant. Definitely some traces of Punchdrunk flavors in there, that made me miss Burnt City and Sleep No More all over again.

Right now in the Jaws exhibit at the Academy Museum, they have Verna Fields Moviola, next to Super-8 footage Spielberg shot of her in the cutting room. It's crazy to watch her muscle memory as she carries on a conversation and continues to operate the Moviola without missing a beat.

We went to a FYC screening and at the Q&A Rian dug into some of that. He was very in the evangelical church until his early 20s. I feel, much like Silence, the religous conversation of WUDM is one that can only come from growing up in that world, and spending actual time interrogating those beliefs.
