Gimme Some Truth Podcast @gimmesometruthpod.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Legendary session drummer Bernard Purdie has long claimed that he played on twenty-one early Beatles recordings. This week, I investigate if there is any truth to Purdie’s story. 🥁 gimmesometruth.podbean.com #Beatles #TheBeatles #BernardPurdie

This was a great listen, and (no spoilers) I 100% agree with your conclusion.

Loved doing this - talking about random tv shows/radio phone-ins/telephone grifts from the 70s and 80s that nobody watched/listened to/spent a fortune phoning

Not sure if even the MAL software could salvage the Quarrymen tapes - but yes, that would be the perfect box set. Just imagine…

Haha! Who knew that Macca would have product to promote amidst a new Beatles release!

Yes, it’s very much “here’s a rusk and a nappy to keep you occupied while we set up the scalextric for the kids” (Apologies - I’m rubbish at analogies) It’s also the Beatle fan FOMO investment that Apple knows all too well. And, yes, I can’t shake it off

For more than a year I’ve been immersed in 1960s music magazines alongside a non-stop pirate radio soundtrack. I genuinely don’t know when I am anymore (and it’s SO GOOD) Can’t wait to share what I think *really* happened

Don’t profess to know much (and there will be far better recommendations) but I’m a big fan of his 1960 Tchaikovsky Nutcracker Suite covers album - especially Sugar Rum Cherry👍 youtu.be/ONknTGUckKc?...
