Another useful comparison: if any "traditional industry" had seen job losses comparable to the UK games industry in the last few years, it'd be treated as a national crisis on the front of every newspaper for months and months, because those are considered Proper Jobs and making games is not.

After 18 months of Frozen Shoulder injury bullshit I am finally able to do pushups again. I used to be able to do pushups from hanging gym rings, now im just on a floor doing knee progression but god damn im glad to finally use my arms again without agony.

Similar design problem with D&D cantrips. It feels better to attack withlevelled up Eldritch Blast, do 3x bolts 1d10 damage than the all or nothing singular Fire Bolt attack which can do 3d10 at that same level. More chances to hit feels more reliable because even lesser hits feels like Progress.

Valkyria chronicles had volleys of shots which fired random within a circular reticle. The smaller the reticle, the greater the odds every shot hits. Get Closer. This also means you have 5-7 Rifle shots or full SMG burst per action, which means more chances to hit. Rarely a complete miss like xcom

Honestly im the opposite. I feel like higher resolution retro styled games & cleanly emulated older games lets the artistry on the low definition texture and modelwork shine more at further distances. It's not technically accurate to the 90s-early-00s 3d sure but low resolution does nothing for me.

Agree! Low definition models, sprites, textures im all on board for and highly encourage. But resolutions I always increase to close to native if i have the option. I just don't get anything from PAL/NTSC resolutions.
