Even the McDonald's fits in! It's not to my taste, but neither is rotting fish 😅

McDonald's Bergen fits in with the surrounding buildings, no double arch on show here.

Here it is, only 42 years wait for the debut album from #Panixphere featuring Bic Hayes, Jon Poole, Bob Leith, Jo Spratley and more. All have been #Cardiacs members or with associated side projects. Go check it out and throw some money at them! panixphere.bandcamp.com/album/gods-a...

How did I end up with three copies of the same album? When it's one of the best albuls ever who cares? 1) Torso original (2nd hand and most expensive) 2) 1995 re-release 3) Abbey Road remaster in the digipac format. The new one sounds the best.

Three copies of the same album. On Land and In the Sea by #Cardiacs.
Slight differences in the cover artwork.

Aha! It's the lovely Abbey Road remastered version of On Land and In the Sea by #Cardiacs The vinyl has the advantage of a larger font for the booklet, that squiggly font isn't easy on these old eyes. The CD has the advantage of not having to turn it over at half time.

Cover of the album On Land and In the Sea by #Cardiacs. A sticker on the left of the cover shows that it is the 2025 Abbey Road remaster of the classic 1989 LP.

Pictures of the band, at the top is the front of the album On Land and In the Sea by #Cardiacs. To the right are Tim Quy, William D Drake and Sarah Smith. In the lower image some of the band are wearing their scruffy outfits, Tim Smith is to the left and Sarah is in the centre.

What a fabulous collection of bangers (and mash). Side 2 is 'just' 4 songs but whoa, there's quality. Wireless is an homage to Faust's song Psalter with Tim's lyrics. The song ends with the sound of many scissors snipping, a dreamlike poem about peril at sea and a sublime piece of orchestral music.

Track listing for the Cardiacs album Sing to God.

One: 1. Eden on the Air 2. Eat it up Worms Hero 3. Dog Like Sparky 4. Fiery Gun Hand 5. Insect Hooves on Lassie 6. Fairy Mary Mag

Two: 1. Bellyeye 2. A Horses Tail 3. Manhoo 4. Wireless

Three: 1. Dirty Boy 2. Billion 3. Odd Even 4. Bell Stinks 5 Bell Links 6. Flap Off You Beak 7. Quiet as a Mouse

Four: 1. Angleworm Angel 2. Red Fire Coming Out From His Gills 3. No Gold 4. Nurses Whispering Verses 5. Foundling

One of the lovely things about the vinyl is that each band member gets to feature on a label. Side one features 'Random' Jon Poole and, of course, the spindle just happens to make a splendid nose! #Cardiacs

Side one shows a picture of Jon Poole smiling. The metal spindle is lined up perfectly as a nose!

Sing To God by Cardiacs is 30 years old today! More ideas in one song than most artists have on a whole album and this is a double. Some say it's the best albul ever made. If measured by genius it's certainly one of the heaviest hitters.

Cardiacs album cover for Sing To God. Shows 4 members wearing black shirts with yellowy / green faces and large eyes. From the top clockwise we have Tim Smith, Jim Smith, Bob Leith and Jon Poole.

Possibly Phoenix Festival review. I believe it's from a Melody Maker. 'Your favourite band's favourite band' #Cardiacs

Clipping from a review of a rock festival tells of Faith No More finishing their headlining set and then leaving to go and see Cardiacs playing their set on another stage.

Well over a dozen listens and I feel I'm still just scratching the surface. Such a wonderful experience to have new #Cardiacs songs to explore and absorb. Hugely addictive ear-worms.

Quote from Mike Barnes of The Wire about LSD, the new album from Cardiacs.
"LSD is so CONCENTRATED, so packed with ideas...
This version of the band does TIM SMITH proud, serving his SINGULAR VISION with brio and love"

A couple of pictures from my recent holiday in the States. Couldn't visit the Hollywood area without stopping for a few minutes to show my respect. Hit me harder than I expected tbh.

Anatomy of songs. No lazy formulas for #Cardiacs Once you 'get it' everything else is bland.

Anatomy of songs shows timelines of genres of music and how a song is typically constructed. They're all fairly predictable apart from #Cardiacs songs which are richly and unpredictability composed and far more entertaining. Once you 'get it' nothing else comes close.

This wee beastie is giving me a great deal of pleasure at the moment. Most evenings now I'm going through my #Cardiacs FLACs blissfully picking out new bits of interest Tim Smith had tucked away deep into the mix. Music doesn't usually still offer surprises after 30 years of running on repeat.
