This is *PERFECT*. (and if you like this sort of thing you should go watch my @entagma.bsky.social tutorial on how to create a version of this same data in 3D using Houdini and QGIS entagma.com/guest-tutori...)

Though I do need to shout out @getplasticity.bsky.social for having an installer that just works and @sidefx.bsky.social for having a really, really good and quick tech support team!

Chris Kopic @chriskopic.bsky.social · 19/10/2025

My experience as well. Everything that can be installed through the software center runs rock solid. For everything that still needs a manual install (aka all professional software) you have the Linux experience from 10 years ago. Still more enjoyable than Win11 tho...

Chris Kopic @chriskopic.bsky.social · 10/10/2025

Probably my favourite setup this year! Hope you'll like it as well!

Chris Kopic @chriskopic.bsky.social · 25/09/2025

Awesome! Those mask options look really good as well!

010

Chris Kopic @chriskopic.bsky.social · 25/09/2025

That's so cool! I did not know that context aware scale also used a shortest path algorithm behind the scenes! And accumulating values reduces the probability of paths moving sideways along a row? I wonder if you could stretch an image by inverting the map and adding pixels with averaged values...

Chris Kopic @chriskopic.bsky.social · 25/09/2025

Find shortest path, but the contrast between pixels acts as cost? Or is it more complex than that?

I recently modded an old dslr of mine to shoot infrared and took it up a mountain.

So the only useful thing that came out of that whole metaverse hype is 3D software with some collaboration tools sprinkled in? 😄 Anyways - interesting to see Disney USD being used in industrial plant planning! www.wired.com/story/the-me...

Any Blender animators out there who take on shortish commissions? Preferably more stylised almost anime style stuff? Please share if you see this! Might be a little bit of work on something cool for a pitch deck.

So excited for this course - the first two episodes are already so so good at going into one of my main stumbling blocks with watching Unreal tuts: not really getting how Unreal expects me to *think*, and my Houdini mindset just wasn't porting across properly. Great work, @chriskopic.bsky.social!

Pro Tip for getting those @raphaelrau.bsky.social style hyperrealistic electronics renderings: Spend 3 months designing electronics, doing cad, 3d printing, soldering, glueing and coding to just take a photo instead. (May take slightly longer though 😅)
