Kind words here but working in an ED is hard. It often felt like we were the drain towards which the s**t was hosed. You saw almost daily the worst of everything. People in absolute distress on the worst day of their life. Burnout is real. Having to fight for resources makes it feel even harder.

Be the same man before and after the hat is lifted.
PHOTO by Luca Nardone. A person stands in a sleek, modern corridor, dressed in a textured grey overcoat and black turtleneck. Their face is hidden as they tip a wide-brimmed black hat forward, covering their features with one hand. The light is soft, the atmosphere quiet, as reflections dance on the water feature beside the walkway. Every line and fold feels deliberate, composed, and quietly bold.

We should meet in another life, we should meet in air, me and you. - Sylvia Plath
Photo by Casey Horner. A hilltop bathed in warm, golden light rises above a sea of clouds. Two silhouetted figures stand near the crest, facing each other, as if caught in quiet conversation. The clouds stretch endlessly, resembling waves frozen in time. The horizon dissolves into soft pastels, blurring the boundary between earth and sky. A moment of stillness, suspended between heights and vastness.

Only in the darkest nights do we find our true colors.
Photo by Daniele Colucci. A narrow cobblestone street winds through a quiet village under a dusky sky. Dimly glowing orange lights spill from windows and streetlamps, their reflections shimmering on the damp ground. The weathered stone buildings, silhouetted against drifting clouds, create an air of timeless solitude, as if the night itself holds its breath in stillness.

Want nothing. Lack nothing.
Photo by Doni Haris. A lone figure stands on a small boat over glasslike water, holding a fishing rod as dawn or dusk blends teal and rose across the sky. A pale moon lingers above, and the vast open space around the boat creates a sense of spacious calm and suspended time.

Courage doesn’t erase fear. Courage walks beside fear, trembling but unyielding.
Photo by Beyza Kaplan - A solitary figure stands on a dark field under a vast, mist-filled sky. The silhouette is faint, almost blending into the enveloping haze. The scene exudes quiet isolation, as if the person is suspended between the earth and an infinite void. The air feels heavy yet timeless, inviting introspection and a sense of stillness.

CC0 Photo - A vivid wooden door painted in shades of yellow and gold is framed by an ornate, scalloped arch. Sunlight filters through leafy trees, casting soft shadows on the weathered surface, highlighting the intricate metalwork of its handles and lock. The warm tones and delicate details evoke a sense of history and mystery, inviting reflection on the stories that lie behind the door.

The more you follow your own life, the fewer friends you’ll keep. Only a small number of those who align with your journey will stay. Having fewer friends doesn’t mean unhappiness—it’s measurable proof that you’re walking your own path.
Photo by Mathias Reding - Two people walk along a quiet forest path enveloped in dense fog. The tall, leafless trees stretch their bare branches into the misty sky, creating a serene and mysterious atmosphere. The soft light diffuses through the fog, evoking a sense of calm and introspection as they journey forward.

The clock face shows the time as 10:38, with its black hands contrasting against the white background. The vast expanse of the wall creates a minimalist, serene atmosphere, emphasizing the smallness of the clock and the quiet passage of time.

Less thinking, more being. Less seeking, more wandering.
PHOTO by Nick Dunlap - A lone figure sits by a glowing campfire in the vast openness of a desert plain, embraced by the quiet hush of night. Above, the sky stretches endlessly, scattered with countless stars twinkling in deep indigo and black. The constellation Orion is clearly visible near the center. Faint golden lights linger low on the horizon, hinting at distant human presence, but here, stillness prevails under the cosmic canopy.

PHOTO by Finn Semmer - A quiet forest path winds gently between tall, slender trees with smooth, pale trunks. The soft golden light of late afternoon filters through the canopy, casting long, delicate shadows across the dirt trail. The trees stand close together, their vertical forms creating a natural corridor that draws the eye toward the distant green glow beyond. There is stillness in the scene, touched only by the interplay of light and the quiet presence of nature.

Maybe the world ends today. Maybe not. Either way, coffee’s coming.
PHOTO by La Miko - A woman sits alone on a high stool, facing a large café window that overlooks a misty European street. Her back is to the camera, framed by the soft knit of her camel-colored dress and the dark round brim of her hat. Outside, blurred cars drift past and pale historic buildings loom under a pale winter light. A single dome-shaped lamp glows overhead, casting a pool of warmth against the grey chill beyond the glass. Time feels paused—quiet, observant.

Below, a still body of water mirrors the fiery clouds and the figure’s quiet stance, creating a perfect reflection. The horizon line bisects the image, grounding the contrast between sky and earth in a moment of tranquil pause.

No matter how broken your past may be, it forms the foundation of who you are today. The wreckage of the past is not a mark of shame, but a source of strength.
PHOTO by StockSnap - Two weathered ships rest on dry land beneath a moody, overcast sky. The central vessel, large and worn with peeling paint and streaks of rust, faces directly forward, its faded blue and white hull showing the passage of time. To its left sits a slightly smaller boat named "LABOE," also aged but less deteriorated. Rusty shipping containers flank the right side, while distant mountains fade into the mist beyond. The scene is still, heavy with the weight of past voyages and forgotten harbors.

PHOTO by Quang Vuong - A narrow aisle stretches deep into a monochrome labyrinth of tall bookshelves, packed tightly with aged spines and endless stories. Overhead signs mark categories—Poetry, U.S. History, Literary Bios—dangling above the quiet corridor. A lone step ladder waits mid-path, inviting the seeker upward. Fluorescent lights cast a sterile glow, yet the space feels timeless, suspended between thought and memory. The silence is thick, broken only by the imagined rustle of turning pages.
