I will never forget seeing an ABC commentator after a Hillary Clinton/Trump debate in 2016 in which Trump told the usual barrage of lies and Clinton made something like two slightly misleading statements, say this: “They’re both lying to us, so what are voters to do?” This is why we’re here now.

Sadly, “fake news” actually had a useful and real meaning before Trump co-opted it. It referred to bad actors dumping phony news stories on the public to influence an election, like Russia did a lot of in 2016. We now need a new term for that.

We played the historic Camp Springs Bluegrass Festival in North Carolina this weekend. A documentary was made about this event in 1971, and my SiriusXM Truegrass show will feature artists who played the festival in ‘71. The next airing of the show is tomorrow (Sunday) at 6:00PM Eastern

I just had a good conversation with Senator McConnell for about 20 minutes. He congratulated me on the release of the new album Chalk Lines & Dust on July 24. He said he wished he could be there at the Frankfort (Illinois) Bluegrass Festival this weekend to get an advance copy. He sounded great.
