Would all the (sane) libertarian think-tanks please stop yammering on about "free enterprise" for a few minutes and take a look at the MASSIVE erosion of liberty happening under Trump, pretty-please? (p.s. free enterprise is wonderful, but...)

Three rules in FBI firearm training: 1. Always point your weapon downrange 2. Do not point your weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot 3. Don’t put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to shoot Guns are not for threatening compliance for unarmed people doing things you don’t like

I guess you don't *have* to be a racist to support the Trump regime, but it sure must help.

Two kinds of Americans right now. Ones who are collaborating with the racists, and the ones who are resisting.

Just sat in on a webinar by some insurance analysts -- you know, the folks that earn their living by being right about risks. They said "You won't find climate change deniers working at insurance companies." That should mean something to folks. #climatechange

When you publish a website that posts the names and photos of scholars who have written or said things you disagree with and encourage people to surveil and harass them, you are not, in fact, a “free speech” organization.

You can’t say criminals don’t deserve due process when due process is the thing that decides if they're criminals. Otherwise you're just kidnapping people you don't like.

Someone recently asked me -- as an ethicist -- about the ethics of something Trump did. The problem with Trump is that just about everything he does is so OBVIOUSLY wrong -- it feels redundant to try to use one's expertise to point it out.

Opinion: In the U.S., defying the courts is a constitutional crisis. In Canada, it’s a simple matter of paperwork
Pierre Poilievre isn’t planning to use the notwithstanding clause to pass his crime bill. The point of his crime bill is to use the notwithstanding clause

Question for US lawyers... please educate me. When a *government* is in contempt of court, who CAN the judge, say, toss in jail? Like, would it (theoretically) be the head of state, or the lawyer standing there in court declining to respect the court?
