This shouldn't be hard. If you build/maintain a machine and it malfunctions and breaks the law you are responsible for it. As always, the true "innovation" of big tech is creating loopholes in the law by using language that confounds tech illeterate law makers

Without going into details I have had to support people through hearing loss, loss of appetite cos they can’t taste their food, losing their voice, losing their job, losing their company if they are a sole trader… You think this can’t happen to you?

I am rarely affected by discourse on social media, but the current wave of posts asserting that Long Covid is psychosomatic has angered me. To be very clear: if you're asserting that LC isn't a physical disease, you're ignorant of science. End of.

That's why I said seems to imply, but if they knew of the hack prior, I would've thought the story from Albanese would be more "we were aware of a hack in June, and OpenAI has now come forward as the perpterator"

The statement and its timing seems to imply that the Australian Government was unaware of the breech prior to being informed by OpenAI. Relying on a hacker to tell you you've been hacked is a very unserious security posture. If this is true, heads should roll.

One of the key lessons of the 21st century that people refuse to learn is that governments will always assure you that "it's safe" or "not that bad" when they either don't know if it is, or even if they do know that it is, in fact, very bad.
