I don't love the notion of "gateway" entertainment. It presupposes that the end goal is to advance, so that you can then look back and be condescending to newbies starting out. I like some music that people call a "gateway" to X genre. I still like it better than the "real" deal. Who cares.

I'm at the part in Star Wars: Jedi Survivor where you fight Darth Vader on a desert planet. They try to make it super ominous, but I really think it would be a better fight if your character could yell stuff like "Hey Anakin! Is it SANDY enough for ya here?" and "Hey, are those your real legs?"
