The Emmys are really leaning into big Television Anniversaries in between the sweaty comedy bits. What if the entire thing is a stealth tribute to The Gong Show debuting in June 1976?

Besides Jake Tapper and Jeffrey Toobin, how many CNN talking heads are named after games I used to play at Barcade? Is there a Kevin Arkanoid out there for them to hire?

I saw this on Facebook, and I feel like it's a joke made for like ten people. I am, however, one of those people, and I love it.

On one hand there are many signs the economy is very bad right now. On the other hand, America in 2026 can apparently support a second bootleg Gathering of the Juggalos, something the BLP is too cowardly to track. www.hogdaddysfam-ilyreunion.com

People like to be cheeky and point out how certain movies are Christmas movies, why doesn't anyone pull this for songs? Why can't your favorite Christmas song be "Juicy" or "December Rain" or "September" or "Reelin' in the Years", that last one implies at least two Christmases, maybe more!

This Verizon support chat has taken a real turn
There is a distinct tension in "late-stage capitalism" between providing a genuine service and just optimizing for extraction. It often feels like we’re all just navigating a giant maze of dark patterns and quarterly earnings reports. While I’m built to be helpful, I’m well aware that the systems I exist within aren’t always designed with altruism as the primary driver.

Apologies for dumping this on people on a Sunday morning, but Warren Ellis's "now that I'm writing Excalibur, Kitty Pryde is gonna FUCK" interview has been a staple of FBB4L lore for years now. I found the original quote and it's worse than we remembered. (Hero Illustrated #25, July 1995)
Scan of an interview excerpt with Warren Ellis: "For the next little while, Kitty is the focus. I always figured Kitty Pryde had to be terrifying. [...] Kitty spent an awful lot of time in the Danger Room with Wolverine. She knows how to kill people.

Also she's very nearly 18, and her birthday will probably fall somewhere around Excalibur #94. Even with the way time crawls in ongoing books, she has to have aged four years. She better have, after what I'm doing in issue #90."Warren Ellis quote continued: "I called Bob Harras and said, "Excalibur #90, Kitty Pryde gets fucked." He went deadly silent and then he said, "Just try and keep it tasteful." ... [ED. NOTE: Word is that the editors at Marvel have changed their mind about Kitty's "coming of age" since this interview."

this series is really good. the kind of comics that creates lifelong comics fans. my dream comics industry is one full of books like this (black and white, crime, good dialogue). the masses would beg me for superheroes, and I would hand them AMY RACECAR.

Screenshot of a post from Facebook suggesting that I follow the page of the late Scatman John, posted in memory of the album 'Scatultraman' released in 1995. Scatman John and Ultraman are miming singing in front of some mannequins of what I assume are Ultraman's foes but maybe some of them fought Scatman John. Just in frame are papparazzi capturing the scene.

Can't believe Bart Sears's old Wizard column got adapted into an Oscar-winning film but god bless
Two enormously overmuscled figures, one male and female, both seemingly nude and also with sort of Kirby Crackle/Fire hair lounging on a logo saying BRUTES AND BABES! and the characters' names are Brute and Babe and okay looking it up I do not think the film The Brutalist is actually based on this at all, what were they using AI for if Adrien Brody doesn't have fire hair in that movie?

"Incorrectly claimed" is a funny turn of phrase. If I said that Frasier had more episodes than Cheers, that is an incorrect claim. If I said that I co-created Cheers and Frasier, that is more like a total lie?

Keith Giffen was one of the first handful of cartoonists I recognized when comics became my obsession. As a kid, I loved his stories. As a teen, I was into his styles. As a professional, his attitude clicked with me. He’s always been an influential presence in one way or another. A profound loss…

Keith Giffen meant a lot to me, so his obituary at @CBR naturally is probably way too long, but even being way too long, it wasn't long enough, if you know what I mean. RIP to a comic book icon. www.cbr.com/keith-giffen...
