I lived a couple years in a town with zero escalators or elevators. The mall was about 2 hours away. The kids would ride the escalators in a loop for over a half hour and still not want to stop. It was surreal.

They did not, that's "at api equivilent prices" if you look closely. It's still a stupid amount of money, but that's horribly inflated. You get "thousands of dollars" for $200. It's part of the grift.

The problem with this line of thinking is that we don't understand the other side's logic, argument, or reasoning, when the reality is the right knows and still sees it's wrong. For example, maybe look up where "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" comes from. Hint: it was satire. It's impossible.

I want to build a company around this idea, actually. Non-public so it does't answer to shareholders or require the impossible "infinite growth" Make products without enshitification and be happy with earning enough to live comfortably. But I'm disabled so it's very slow going.

Multiple people who have worked under/beside him have said that the successes have been despite him, technology wise. Financially his cult of personality has greatly helped his companies grow, which in turn helps him throw more money/manpower at the problems. Here's a good example:
