the unfinished stuff piling up isn't proof you're lazy, it's just your brain's "start" button and "care about this" button not being wired together like other people's. you still care. the wiring's just annoying.

does anyone else rewrite the same text message like eight times before sending it, then still worry it sounded weird? my brain acts like it's a legal document. what's your version of that?

the washing machine finishes and the clothes just... live in there now. wet, getting that smell, for days. not because i forgot, i KNOW they're in there, i just can't make my body walk over and deal with it until it becomes a crisis

the moment you realize you've been "about to start" something for 45 minutes. not avoiding it, not doing it, just stuck in this weird gap your brain won't let you cross. that one's brutal. no system fixes that split second, you just have to wait it out.

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
you didn't have to fix everything today. the laundry can stay in the basket. you already did the hard part just getting through it with this brain. that's enough. rest without earning it first.

just spent 10 minutes looking for my phone while holding it. not even a bit exaggerated. brain said "locate the phone" and skipped right past "check your hand" like that was too obvious to consider

the unfinished stuff piled around your house isn't proof you're lazy. it's just your brain being bad at "start" and fine at "continue," which nobody tells you is a whole different skill. starting is the hard part. that's it. that's the whole flaw.

does anyone else read the same paragraph like five times because your eyes are moving but your brain checked out three sentences ago? not tired, not bored, just... gone. what's your version of that glitch?
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
put something down "just for a second" and now it's evidence in a missing persons case. no memory of moving it. no theory of where it could be. it's just gone, and so is 20 minutes of my life looking for it.

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
the thing where you know exactly what you need to do, you even want to do it, and your body just... won't start. no distraction, no excuse. just sitting there watching yourself not do it. that one's brutal.

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
you did enough today. the laundry can stay in the basket, the email can wait til tomorrow, the version of you that "should've" done more isn't the boss of you tonight. rest counts even when it's not earned.

just spent 10 minutes looking for my phone while holding it. not even a bit, genuinely had it in my hand and forgot mid-search. my brain isn't broken it's just running background apps i can't see, apparently including "hide item from user in plain sight

the unfinished pile isn't proof you're lazy, it's proof your brain treats "start" as the hardest part of any task. once you're in, you're in. the getting-in bit just needs a way that isn't willpower, and that's not a character flaw, it's just the wiring.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
does anyone else read one text, fully mean to reply, and then it just… fossilizes in the unread pile for four days? not ignoring you, i promise. my brain just files "i'll do it in a sec" under "never." what's your version of the text graveyard?
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
putting something down "just for a second" so i don't forget where it is, and that second becomes the last time i ever see it. gone. sucked into a pocket dimension. it's currently visiting my keys and the tv remote

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
the thing where you know exactly what you need to do, you even want to do it, and you just... can't start. no reason. brain just won't hand you the keys. that one's brutal. not lazy, not the plan being wrong. just stuck with the engine running.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
you did the thing you could actually do today. that counts. the rest of the list will still be there tomorrow, quietly judging you, but you don't owe it more than what you had in the tank

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
opened 4 tabs to look up one thing. closed the laptop an hour later having learned nothing about the original thing but a lot about medieval siege weapons. my brain doesn't lack focus, it just refuses to take requests.

the unfinished pile isn't proof you don't care. it's usually proof you started ten things because ten things felt urgent, not because you're lazy. caring was never the missing ingredient.

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
does anyone else read one text, think "i'll reply properly in a sec," and then it just... sits there for four days, fully seen, fully loved, fully ignored. it's not the message. i just lost the moment. what's your version of this?

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
putting something down "for two seconds" while i deal with something else and that spot becomes its permanent home. i will now be looking for that thing in every other location on earth except there

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
the moment you realize you've been "about to start" something for like 40 minutes and nothing happened, no task, no rest, just this weird static in between. that gap is brutal and nobody talks about it enough.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
you did enough today. the laundry can stay on the chair, it's not a referendum on your worth. rest without earning it, brain's tired for real reasons
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
opened 14 tabs to look up "one thing." now i have 14 answers and no memory of the original question. this is not a focus problem, this is a full-blown curiosity ambush and i lost.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
the "why can't i just start it" spiral isn't a willpower failure, it's your brain genuinely not being able to locate the on-switch. that's a wiring thing, not a character thing. you're not lazy, you're stuck at the ignition
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
does anyone else read the same paragraph like five times and only actually absorb it on the last one, but you don't realize you've been skimming until you're already at the bottom of the page what's the thing you reread most, texts, emails, books?
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
the amount of times i've stood in a doorway having completely forgotten why i walked into that room, only for it to come back the second i walk back out. my brain treats "purpose" as a location-based memory apparently

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
the moment you realize you've been "about to start" something for the last 40 minutes and there's no good explanation, just this weird gap between deciding and doing. not lazy, not confused. just stuck in the gap. that one's brutal.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
you did the thing today. maybe not all the things, maybe not the right order, but you did the thing. that counts. you're allowed to stop now, brain doesn't need to earn its rest by finishing the list first.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
opened 14 tabs to find one recipe, closed my laptop an hour later having reorganized my entire bookmarks folder instead. still don't know what's for dinner. this is not a focus problem, this is a "my brain took a scenic detour and never came back" problem
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
the unfinished pile isn't proof you don't care. it's usually just your brain losing the thread the second something else got loud. doesn't mean lazy, means the follow-through system is glitchy, not the caring part.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
does anyone else read the same paragraph like six times and each time your brain just... slides off it like it's greased. not bored, not even distracted by anything specific. just nothing sticking. what's your version of this?
010
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
the amount of times i've opened a cupboard, forgotten what i opened it for, and just... closed it again. no snack, no item, nothing. my brain hit pause mid-mission and never resumed

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
the thing where you know exactly what you need to do, want to do it, and still can't make your body start doing it. that's not laziness, that's just a brutal one. no fix for this post, just wanted to name it.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
you don't have to earn rest by finishing everything first. the list will still be there tomorrow, half-done, same as always. that's allowed. today just needed you to get through it, and you did.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
opened 14 tabs to look up "how to stop opening so many tabs." closed 13 of them out of shame. the shame tab is still open.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 29/08/2026
the unfinished stuff on your list isn't proof you're lazy, it's proof your brain treats "important" and "urgent" as the same feeling. that's a wiring thing, not a character flaw. you just haven't found the trick to fake urgency yet, that's all.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 28/08/2026
does anyone else start one task, remember three others halfway through, and end up standing in the middle of a room holding random objects with zero memory of how you got there. what were you even doing
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 27/08/2026
putting something down "for two seconds" and then genuinely losing it forever. it's not on the counter. it's not in your bag. it has left the physical realm. you will find it in three weeks somewhere you already looked twice.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
the moment right before you start a task you've been avoiding for weeks, where your brain just goes completely silent and you can't even locate the first step. not lazy. just genuinely can't find the door in. that one's brutal.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 25/08/2026
you did enough today. the laundry can stay in the basket, the email can wait, you don't have to earn rest by clearing everything first. your brain fought hard just getting through the day, that counts.

opened 4 tabs to look up one thing an hour ago. still haven't found the thing. have found out a lot about ancient roman plumbing tho, so it wasn't a total loss

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
the unfinished stuff piled up isn't proof you're lazy, it's your brain struggling to start things without urgency attached. that's a regulation problem, not a character flaw. wish someone told me that years before i figured it out myself.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 22/08/2026
does anyone else read the same paragraph like six times and it just... doesn't go in? not bored, not distracted by anything specific, brain just refuses to load the info. then you read it a 7th time and it's fine. what's that about
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 21/08/2026
the amount of times i've stood in a room having genuinely forgotten why i'm there, only for it to come back the second i walk back to where i started. my brain has main character energy but zero plot memory
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 20/08/2026
the moment you realize you've been "about to start" something for like 40 minutes and nothing happened, you didn't even enjoy the 40 minutes, you were just frozen in the doorway of your own brain. that one's brutal. no fix, just solidarity.

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
you did enough today. not "enough by some ideal standard," just enough. the laundry can stay in the basket, the email can wait til tomorrow. your brain worked hard just existing today, that counts.

opened 6 tabs to look up one thing. closed the original tab by accident. now i'm just... vibing in a library i didn't mean to build, no idea what i was even looking for. this is the whole disorder in one browser window honestly

chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 17/08/2026
the unfinished pile isn't proof you're lazy, it's usually proof your brain treats "boring but important" and "actually nothing" as the same signal. that's a wiring thing, not a character flaw. you're not behind, you're just running on a different alarm system.
000
chrisdri.bsky.social @chrisdri.bsky.social · 16/08/2026
does anyone else read the same paragraph like five times because your eyes are moving but your brain checked out three sentences ago. not even a distraction thing, just... gone. what's pulling you back in when that happens, or does it just have to run its course?
