Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 03/09/2026From beginning to end, a few week's work, the development of the logstore behind Little Woodbury round house @butserancientfarm.co.uk. Surprising what you can create out of scrap and recycled timber. Holds about 3 cubic metres of logs, in the dry. 040 4
Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 19/08/20262 weeks ago, I made a cover to hide a water tap. The spec changed in between, to enable a bucket to be filled, so today I dismantled mk1, repurposed that wood, scrounged or sawed more and made mk2. I hope it satisfies the brief now...there's almost no more wood on site😉 @butserancientfarm.co.uk 010 1

Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 22/07/2026Today @butserancientfarm.co.uk was a "play day" after we finished the log store. Dave brought in a prototype of a cart which caused much food for evaluative thought and discussion about alterations, potential improvements. The design process embedded in experimental archaeology. 020 2
Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 15/07/2026A taster from the site preparation @butserancientfarm.co.uk. The corporate event wanted a wicker person, so our professional builders created one. Hoping that staff onsite tomorrow will share images from the day, @experimentalkearns.bsky.social 010 1
Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 15/07/2026Today @butserancientfarm.co.uk, while the site was a hive of activity preparing for a corporate event tomorrow, Dave and I pursued our goal of roofing the log store, using timber offcuts from last weekend's wood fair. Nearly there. Just a few ends to tie up, literally. 110 1
Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 02/07/2026Yesterday at @butserancientfarm.co.uk we progressed the woodstore, scavenging and recycling pallets and wood from around the site. Hopefully the weather will be kind next week so we can roof it and put the finishing touches. Then there's the "simple" job of moving logs ... retirement? 030 3
Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 02/07/2026Wednesday at @butserancientfarm.co.uk. the planters built last week have been filled and planted, hopefully "guiding" people onto the safe access slope... 010 1

Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 20/05/2026My day at @butserancientfarm.co.uk was spent creating boxes to hold the baskets of archaeology trowels, incorporating a seat for school visitors who might need to sit down to have a go. One more to make next week. 1271 27

Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 07/04/2026If this threat is carried out, it won't be "a civilisation" dying. It will effectively be civilisation as we have known it dying, largely on the whim of one person, aided and abetted by his hand-chosen henchmen and women. Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 20/03/2026Volunteering @butserancientfarm.co.uk; lifting and shifting, as a part of building from repurposed materials. The old pigsty and fence rails repurposed as a "bus/bike shelter". Education staff can have somewhere to stand/sit when waiting for coaches to arrive. Final touch-a seat, next Wednesday. 062 6
Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 25/02/2026Today @butserancientfarm.co.uk Dave and I sourced from various old project left overs and cut timbers to create the rear roof and roof supports for a covered area beside the car park. Chris Chivers @chrischivers.bsky.social · 19/12/2025@mmulholland.bsky.social important reading. SEND is a multi-faceted issue that encompasses teacher subject knowledge; particularly the stages in learning, from the earliest stages, plus the wide range of behavioural needs. Both elements challenge teacher knowledge, why SEND is a collegiate effort. 110 1
