Next up I'm working on the game forge which will include an in-browser version of the dev server. So you can edit and play your game with just a web browser. I'm looking at how I can incorporate low cost coding models to make game development more accessible.

The cool thing about the play.cavu.games endpoint is that it also acts as a proxy to a dev server running on your computer via iroh. That means that you can host a game locally and invite people to play with a play.cavu.games url. This supports hot reloading of game bundles to the client

play.cavu.games is our "cavu games engine" built in rust which uses lua for scripting. Games are going to be shipped as at-proto records so anyone with a working copy of the engine can run them. Being able to leverage the same engine for multiple games should reduce the level of effort to build.

Cavu Games is the first working version of my "intent to launch" design that I originally pitched to @trezy.codes leaflet.pub/p/did:plc:dp... What this means is that you sign-in once on cavu.games and then games listed there on any domain can use your login to write to your PDS.

What have I been up-to the last few days? cavu.games is now live. This has been a pipe dream since the beginning of the summer and it's mostly working. For now it's 2 games that I'd previously published elsewhere, but there will be some new exclusive games later this month. 🧵 on why this is cool

I hadn't done streaming before @stream.place but I think it's pretty standard. There's specific instructions to get stream pets working over on rpg.actor which I'd consider doing.

Test the setup first. Get some one you know to watch it and give feedback. Cheap mic and lights are better than no mic and lights. You'll want to (at least) see the streamplace chat, obs, and whatever you're doing so budget your monitor space appropriately. Expect less than 50 viewers.

I'm going to write the books by myself - I guess I should have said that - I'll use models to edit, proof read, check for consistency, spelling, and grammar. The consistency checks are where it really pays off so the model can call out: hey these two places are 3 days sail.from each other.

@chrisbaty.bsky.social @nano2point0.bsky.social I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year, I'm wondering if you all would like any (free) help incorporating Bluesky more actively into your tools this year? I've built bots, custom feeds, and blog sites. Shoot me a DM if you're interested.

They're my ideas, the LLM is "pushing back" when they are contradictory or insensitive. I'm ignoring the glazing – I know how bad my ideas are. At the end of it I'll have a complete document to work off of. I didn't write a word of it but it's all my own creation.
110
Chris Pardy @chris.pardy.family · 06/10/2026
This would be a full-month full-time project with lots of revision if I did it by hand. Instead I can fire up my trusty LLM while I'm doing dishes and talk through ideas. I can have the full outline and world bible done before November starts

Chris Pardy @chris.pardy.family · 06/10/2026
I've taken a few forays into this world before but now is when I'm really laying out the full outline, doing the necessary world building, etc. It's expansive, there's at least 10 different distinct cultures that need to be fleshed out and grand cities where you see people from all over the world.

Let's talk about AI and writing: For NaNoWriMo this year I'm taking on a very very ambitious project, the first of 9 novels (3 trilogies), short story collections, RPG systems, early reader books, and more. All of these are set in a richly detailed world I'm calling 8th Sea.

Honestly since @rude1.blacksky.team said rsky = risky, for me bsky = bisky (bisk-ey) which makes this domain sound like something the swedish chef would register

The ins and outs of this don't fit in 300 characters but suffice to say "no" it wouldn't be related to verification. @scanash.com is really the person you want explaining this, but in effect Bluesky could choose to let people pay for <name>.bsky and keep that money just like you bought your domain

Tlds can be either publicly registered or privately controlled. So Bluesky could choose to allow anyone to buy a bsky domain or choose to hand them out themselves. I'm guessing they'll do the latter but I guess they could sell handles.
150
Chris Pardy @chris.pardy.family · 05/10/2026
I'm guessing here that they're not going to sell the domains. It would be more of a thing where instead of <name>.bsky.social you now are <name>.bsky You can already take your handle with you if you move off the bsky pds

Messing about with clef flash to do image categorization for a inktober feed bsky.app/profile/did:... Generally I'd say these system 1 type models are pretty cool when you've got constrained tasks that can benefit from the speed and low cost.

You could definitely track diffs, use a CRDT etc. But in the end if the original author edited their record what would you want the behavior to be? I think in practice you could store before + after for a document. If you're doing live edits CRDTs are the way to go, but they can be an appview thing
001
Chris Pardy @chris.pardy.family · 02/10/2026
So I think you probably don't want CRDT unless you want 2 people seeing each other's edits as they type. The simple version of what you're talking about is just making a copy of the post with attribution. That's probably also the right final form for the records to take.
110
Chris Pardy @chris.pardy.family · 02/10/2026
Yes, but especially yes if they're driven by records so apps can prompt you to add them to your profile. Extra double special yes if apps can create recipes for them to make it easy to suggest and add (I know that one is asking a lot)
000
Chris Pardy @chris.pardy.family · 01/10/2026
If you have any specific questions feel free to dm me - otherwise: - PDS / relay is too slow for live editing, but you can batch reasonably well - use case dependent you probably want to store a copy of the latest data

Just because I didn't make it clear, I'm in the Eastern US (north of Boston) if you're thinking of buying a domain do it in the next 2 hours and 35 minutes and I give more money to people who need it.

Chris Pardy @chris.pardy.family · 01/10/2026
We are so close... Two more domains and @marque.at @byjp.me and me will donate over $500 to charity. But here's the thing if we get over 150 domains before it turns midnight for me. I will double my contribution for the whole month. That's an additional $151 if we get just 4 more domains.
The marque.gives September total showing $495.80 with 147 eligible purchases
