Saw my first mockingbird in over 20 years yesterday!

A small bird, a mockingbird, with a grey back and wings with a white breast is sitting at the far edge of a shrub.

I was sick most of last week and today I was startled to see bees! Bugs! Seems like I was still freezing my fingers during early morning birding yesterda.

A meadow path in springtime with green along the grass while brown growth from the last year bordering the path. There is a hillside in the distance with a partially cloudy sky at dusk.

Yes! I’m so grateful to Dropout TV for having such excellent captions (and CR is pretty good at this too) that I get spoiled. Time for me to look for an email for WoTC! I’m so excited for this series too.

Oof. As someone who relies on captions, that’s a good heads up.

Almost on the other side of my first experience with norovirus and I can confidently say that the world can destroy us, easy. I’m almost terrified to touch another surface ever again. :/

Gerry Conway wrote some amazing stories you probably know even if you didn’t read them. & I respect how he tried to keep the Punisher symbol out of the hands of the worst people in the world— marvel just didn’t have his back in doing it.

Maybe someone more creative than myself could photoshop this iconic movie poster

A poster of the movie Strictly Ballroom (1992) that says Totally Outrageous, Wildly Original, Daringly Different. STRICTLY BALLROOM. The movie that has the whole world dancing. There are close ups of three people in various dress looking either suave or celebratory with the lower boarder showing many raised hands in applause. There is very small text not legible to anyone that's at the bottom of many movie posters.

Just saw my FOY palm warbler today! It was waaaaay up in Northern VT, though.

Finally heard the Eastern Meadowlark everyone had been reporting at the airport! Took almost a dozen tries and the little bugger only sang once, but FOY nonetheless.

Autism is a spectrum! This isn't a new thing. Nonverbal autistic people also on a spectrum. I really hope we're not going to fire up the old "high functioning" and "low functioning" arguments. There are nonverbal autistic poets so your point is...?

We get the red ones and they're just so gorgeous! I was out this morning and two of them flew in, which was surprising enough but then the singing! Simply made my day. We're still behind everyone else here re: migration, but it's hapening!

Looks like the perfect evening to post my favorite guide on writing alt text!

An image of a capybara looking relaxed in a hot spa. Yellow yuzu fruits are floating in the water, and one is balanced on the top of the capybara's head.

I am a New Englander so it's likely it is regional, but not sure! I don't recall my peers using "choice" at all, or not that I can remember. Though it might be more Bostonian in nature, a la "wicked pissah."

YALL. There is a charitable organization in Chicago that donates books to women’s prisons. My boyfriend introduced me to it!!! Yall support!! This is AMAZING. Women’s prisons do NOT get anywhere near the donations men’s do. That’s why my own organization exists. LINK HERE: www.cbwp.org

My kid was absolutely unfazed by me (GenX) coming out because "pretty much all my friends are trans/nonbinary." Oh, and then they one-upped me by coming out as nonbinary after I came out.

Have there been any studies about people with celiac disease not getting infected COVID? I feel like I heard about this once and as someone with celiac who has also never tested positive (despite family members/office staff testing positive), I'm curious.

Guess which Senator's office this was? (probably not that hard to guess)

"Boy, the senator has said that these words are the ravings of a dangerous and mentally unbalanced individual. And he, he does believe that Congress has to act to end this war now. And that is, that is his umm, official stance. And he's doing everything that he can to, to make sure that umm"

"OK"

"actions are taken and, and that this administration is reined in."

This is a birding enthusiast account but, you know, even I had to call my reps after doing my morning walk. (I'm assuming the staffer didn't call me "boy," it's just auto captions doing their thing. I'm sure it's not difficult to guess who the Senator is, either.)

A screenshot of autocaptions that read

"Boy, the senator has said that these are the ravings of a dangerous and mentally unbalanced individual. And he, he does believe that Congress has to act to end this war now. And that is, that is his umm, official stance. And he's doing anything that he can do, to make sure that umm"

"OK"

"actions are taken and , and this administration is reined in."

I made all my calls even though my reps have all been speaking out against the war. I did feel a little bad for the staff that's there while congress is on vacation.
