Friends, I recently guested on the True Bromance Podcast to discuss the modern classic and film that many people [ok, just me] are calling the "thinking man's Heat", DEN OF THIEVES. Do yourself a solid and make sure you check it out.

Watched THE WEIGHT (2026) or The Wages Of Sierra Madre as I now think of it.

I've watched Dune part one and two. I enjoyed them, I was impressed by them, and I'm looking forward to part three. I just have no memory of what story these films are telling. Something about spice and space worms.

It’s close, but not quite enough evidence of an explosion so as you figured I’m not going to count it.

Exploding Helicopter @chopperfireball.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Oh yes. Got that on our lists. I think there were 3 or 4 films in the Air Marshal series!

Watched ONE LAST SHOT (2026) Scott Adkins brings his espresso-themed series to a close. This was good, but at the moment I'd put the first two ahead of this one. Co-stars Dolph Lundgren and Nathan out of Corrie.

What film is this? I'm not sure I recognise it.

A helicopter becomes tangled in cables, crashes, and explodes. But is there enough fiery delight to pass the Exploding Helicopter test? We examine pilot error, lingering wreckage and Pierce Brosnan’s impressive career total in our latest episode on NO ESCAPE. Listen wherever you get your pods!

The second film ever to feature an exploding helicopter.

Owen Wilson: laid-back comic charmer… or convincing action hero? On the new Exploding Helicopter podcast, we review No Escape – the surprisingly brutal, relentlessly tense thriller that lets Wilson bludgeon a man to death without apologising first. Listen wherever you get your podcasts 🚁💥📽️🎧

Action Film Dictionary: U is for Urban Warfare. An instance of the fight scenario involving large opposing combat forces, set in urban areas such as towns and cities, as depicted in Enemy at the Gates (2001).

Just the Volvo related critique of Resident Evil I was looking for.

It is. Brad was so good I wanted to give him a bonio biscuit.

Watched HEART OF THE BEAST (2026) and it was alright as far as it goes. The 'dog acting' in this film was tremendous though.

😂 have you seen the Uncle Buck horror film trailer?

I’m a big fan of Blue Thunder, obviously.

Was Future Cop a spin off from Trancers?

I see Fast Times ran for just 7 episodes - the sign of a great show

The exploding helicopter sequence is excellent.

Wow! David Soul AND Ray Liotta - two actors I never imagined crossing paths.

Oh yeah! I'd forgotten about that series. Aborted after just a few episodes.

That's a good one! Never knew it existed!

Can you think of any that people haven't heard of/forgotten? The Buffy TV series is probably better known than the original film.

000

Exploding Helicopter @chopperfireball.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

What. The. Hell. Just incredible. A spin-off of the TV spin-off. I'm not sure even the people involved in this remember it.

Friends, can you help? I'm writing something for my good friends at @bulletproofpod.bsky.social and I need some examples of films with TV spin-offs that no one has ever heard of or forgotten about. For example, F/X: The Series.

The Exploding Helicopter podcast returns this week... This time we'll be looking at NO ESCAPE (2015) a film that gives us the never before seen sight of Owen Wilson caving a man's skull in with his bare hands. You don't get that in a Wes Anderson film...

Watched OM - THE BATTLE WITHIN (2022) the 7️⃣2️⃣7️⃣th film I've seen with an exploding helicopter. 🚁💥📽️ This was a bit of a chopper fireball-fest. The exploding helicopters and there's at least two other wrecked whirlybirds to savour.

Watched ROOP KI RANI CHORON KA RAJA (1993) the 7️⃣2️⃣6️⃣th film I've seen with an exploding helicopter. 🚁💥📽️ This was absolutely wild. What I love about Indian cinema is that there is no set of coincidences too outrageous that they can't be the plot. An incredible film.

To see the Jiangshi trope re-emerge in a movie from Ireland of all places is surprising to say the least.

I complain about nepo-babies so it's only right to acknowledge their presence here. Friday was the son of Flash The Dog who starred in 10 films during the 1920s and 1930s.
