Jino, a tired-looking man with stubble and shaggy hair, reaches forward to touch a stone wall with strange glyphs on it. There are vines on the wall, and a horned, bearded skeleton beside it.

Jino: "Ancient language, huh? Hate these old ruins. Well, no way to read your warning now, old man."

Kylah, a pointy-eared woman with hair over one eye and big upturned pigtails, slides in to the left, behind Jino. Jino glances her way, looking mildly surprised.

Kylah: "'Viraeth'. That's what it says."

Jino: "Oh, huh. You can read it? What does it mean?"

Kylah: "Well, "Vira" is the old word for "Fire". It's the same in my language."

Did another redraw of an old childhood sketchbook creature. This one I remember being called a "Chzar", because that was the sort of "cool" name I gave things back then. I also remember one of my original protagonist characters fighting a variant that was permanently on fire! #art #fantasyart

Modern redraw of the original image. Still a big-headed lizard-man with a head-and-nose horn and long claws, but now with far more detail, particularly in the scales and plates of the body. The proportions are a little more triangular than before, but still long-bodied with stubby legs.

Sort of drew it as I went, but here's a concept for Kylah's home village, where the Lunari live. If this were a JRPG, you'd probably end up coming here early in the story to get help with something magical. #art #fantasymaps

An artistic map of a village called Loeyeni, stretched across a chasm in the high crags in the Loeya Valley. Its buildings have all those little wooden struts keeping them standing.

The village is near a bunch of falls which roll down from the Luna Springs higher up the mountain, which are themselves fed by a pool on the Moonstone Summit. On the summit, a short walk from the giant crystal that's set on top of the mountain, there is a much simpler shrine on an outcropping.

Random story. When I was a teenager, I designed an RPG in one of my spare textbooks. It was a bad but simple D&D clone with wildly imbalanced classes, and since I had no dice sets, everything was d6. Not like a dice pool, since I didn't know about those yet, but terrible equations like "Roll 2d6-2".
