I think at least some of these people chose a path in life that they hate because they believed a high paying job, fancy title, etc was the key to happiness. But it turns out they're miserable and they can't stand the fact that someone who chose the "wrong" path is happier than they are

It feels like 2 syllables is the sweet spot for this kind of insult. 1 or 4+ syllables are for when you're genuinely mad. 3 syllables is clunky but maybe works if they roll of the tongue. For substance, plant pot and teacup are both empty. Donut is too in a way (empty calories, no nutritional value)
