I told Aarif pregame that this stat was premature. Not now: The Avalanche can become the fifth team in NHL history to score eight or more goals in each of their first two games of a season. They would join the 1985-86 Flames, 1978-79 Canucks, 1975-76 Canadiens and 1917-18 Arena (all 2 GP).

Hate to say it but this is how it will be the remainder of the cores window. Like, we have a solid roster when healthy but having a full lineup of healthy guys seems unlikely given age and durability history. Colorado is better than a lot of the NHL but there are some concerns you won’t see leave.

If Sakic could some how pull of a Nelson+ for Larkin swap it would cement him as the best GM of all time. The main concern I have (beyond goaltending) for Colorado this year is that I have never once during his tenure here seen Nelson as your 2C if you want to win the cup. #goavsgo
