A hardbound copy of Making Enemies rests on a wooden dining table. A wickedly grinning jack-o-lantern, larger than a man, running around on spider legs. You can tell it's larger than a man, because it's grabbed one with a viny tendril and is stuffing him inside itself, having lifted its own lid with another tendril.

A carriage with darkened windows, speeding through a ghostly mist. Its headlamps are eyelike and glowering, and there's an incriminating bloodstain on the front of it, right where it might impact a person's head.

Some horrible, shapeless thing that looks sort of like a gargantuan nudibranch, plowing through everything in its path, including entire trees. It's such a juggernaut, it's even breaking the frame.

I’m drawing the line work for jungles, an excuse to add dinosaurs in the dense rainforest. It’s for dnd so the land needs to invite exploration. The jungle is criss crossed by rivers and mysterious ziggurats and gives way to a desert region with a few settlements. #mapping #cartography #rpg

The geometry of this city map was too tricky to draw by eye alone, so I started by modelling the main cutaway cone and the central spiral path in Blender. And I’m glad I did, I’ve spent hours trying to get spiral staircases right, they are more tricky than they look. #Cartography

My players have messed up an encounter in the swampy region, to intervene in a gradually escalating argument between an autognome Druid and the autognome ranchers riding clockwork dinosaurs. Things are now much worse as both sides turn on the players, roll for initiative. #dnd

The borders of my recent maps are real, and inspired by 18th century maps by J N Bellin. The right and left scale shows nautical leagues (1 league is 3.5 miles ish). It also shows degrees of latitude from the equator. There are 20 leagues to each degree of latitude.

Moonshae isles region of the DnD continent of Faerun. The draper’s and dressmaker’s shops for a game I’m running. I can imagine these two NPCs clearly, and they have a very interesting story to tell. I’m mostly happy with the map, except the dressmakers manikins which haven’t worked, so I’ll redo those. #cartography #ttrpg
