20 pieces of #art, 1 a day, that inspire you. #Day11 Today’s work doesn’t really inspire me, but has stuck in my mind for at least 15 years. Rubens’ Massacre of the Innocents that is in Munich, brings that horrifying scene into sharp focus, preventing it from fading into words on a page.

20 pieces of #art, 1 per day, that inspired you. #Day8 The Altar of the Lie in St. Peter’s spoke to me as it looks like a painting, but it is instead a mosaic. I expected that a mosaic would be a bit disjointed, but not here. The cerulean of the robes was so intense that it stayed with me.

The Altar of the Lie, a mosaic in St. Peter’s Basilica, based upon a painting by Cristoforo Roncalli. It depicts the story in Acts 5 where Ananias and Saphira are punished for lying to St. Peter.

#WiskerWednesday This was PJ when we first got her. We had her for 17 years until she passed away. I miss her, but she was such a joy. ♥️

Post 20 pieces of art, 1 a day, that inspired you. #art #Day3 Michelangelo’s Bandini Pietà in Florence can’t compare to the delicacy of the Pietà in Rome, but it evokes a power not shown elsewhere. The fact that is a self portrait with Michelangelo’s face as Joseph, looking down at the scene,WOW!

Post a piece of art that inspires you, 1 a day for 20 days. #art #Day2 Titian’s Assumption of the Virgin in Venice’s Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari is achingly beautiful. The fact that it is still in the surrounds which it was designed to be in gives it even more impact. 📸 me

Maybe we should honor the women who were real astronauts. From left to right are Shannon W. Lucid, Margaret Rhea Seddon, Kathryn D. Sullivan, Judith A. Resnik, Anna L. Fisher, and Sally K. Ride. NASA selected all six women as their first female astronaut candidates in January 1978.

I am self imposing a social media ban on myself because the current situation is not only keeping me from getting to sleep but is also invading my sleep via nightmares. I need to take a break. I will miss all the good pictures and conversations; I hope to return soon. Hugs!

@robwords.bsky.social One aspect of modern English I dislike is the phrase “I’ve got to…”. I contend that the word “got” is unnecessary and shouldn’t be use. What is your opinion? Is it just unnecessary, is it just less formal, or is it incorrect?

Millionaires can write off the entire cost of their private jets on their taxes… Teachers can only write off up to $300 for school supplies…. Something’s got to change. WHO AGREES?! 🤚✨

This is Winston Churchill visiting the White House during World War II. Funny how he isn’t wearing a suit either. Almost like he was a wartime leader defending his country from being slaughtered and wiped out by an authoritarian aggressor.
