It comes with both, and a lot of trauma that I've talked through with my therapist. Think of it as like racial slurs where the people of said race can say it. Or like with us trans folks, some of us use "tranny" or "transexual" even though it's controversial, or the use of queer and faggot.

The last time I voted in Ohio, I believe it was on the day of and they asked for ID. The other times have all been for North Dakota and I did not have to show proof by mail-in, but I did in person. And I think for mail-in, I had to at least write in something of personal information.
