The ability to do shared-memory concurrency imposes a massive burden on the ecosystem, because everyone keeps having to ask "is this dependency thread-safe". Most languages should just stick to message passing and the actor model (99% of the time, it's a better way to build software anyway)

Washing machine filters too. You probably have a little lint/whatever trap behind a little door on the bottom corner of your washer. If you've never opened it before, it's gunna stink something fierce. Put a towel down before you take out the trap, it's gunna leak a bit.

This right here is a pretty elegant solution to the problem of wanting to capture measurements from JavaScript in the system Safari without being able to directly access the DOM
from http.server import HTTPServer, BaseHTTPRequestHandler

class H(BaseHTTPRequestHandler):
    def do_POST(self):
        n = int(self.headers.get("Content-Length", 0))
        open("/tmp/diag.json", "w").write(self.rfile.read(n).decode())
        self.send_response(200)
        self.send_header("Access-Control-Allow-Origin", "*")
        self.end_headers()
    def do_OPTIONS(self):
        self.send_response(200)
        self.send_header("Access-Control-Allow-Origin", "*")
        self.send_header("Access-Control-Allow-Headers", "*")
        self.end_headers()
    def log_message(self, *a):  # quiet
        pass

HTTPServer(("127.0.0.1", 9999), H).serve_forever()
const host = document.querySelector("navigation-search");
const ta   = host.shadowRoot.querySelector("textarea");
const cs   = getComputedStyle(ta);
fetch("http://127.0.0.1:9999/diag", {
  method: "POST",
  body: JSON.stringify({
    dpr: window.devicePixelRatio,
    scrollWidth: ta.scrollWidth, clientWidth: ta.clientWidth,
    whiteSpace: cs.whiteSpace, width: cs.width,

If you don't have time to read it, the tl;dr is, if there are educational content creators you value, let them know. They might write, make videos, or anything else. Times are tough, and talented people are fading away. A few encouraging words from a real person can make a huge difference.

For modern LEDs, for indoor signaling (or bare PCB) use, from 5v0 rails, you should be a lot closer to 10k-50k than 100-500 ohms, no kidding. Jellybean LEDs are *crazy* efficient now, 10-15mA is like a spotlight, and 1mA is still uncomfortable.
