Most of today was taken up so far by eating dinner with an old roommate of mine. But I did hop back on the Koffing mahjong engine... though just beginning to poke around at UI...

Post-script: Another illustration in the WRC rules that I was looking at was this one. This explains the dead wall in more depth, and was basically what I was explaining in my description in more detail.

As I was working on this wall math, this was the image in the WRC rules I'd be looking at. The next live tile is at the top. At the bottom, in front of the assumed player sitting at this table, is the dead wall.

This is not the best I've ever done in the MahjongSoul Sky High Ambition mode, but its the best in this version of it, and it was a really blessed run until I lost a talisman that limited what hands I could go for and took a PT gain away.

A victory screen for the current Sky High Ambition mode on MaSoul, where I got to the Ex8-Boss level and had a highest hand of 41,292,236,056 points with 6,172,413 han, A version of seven pairs of each honor tile.

I've been struggling with Godot-Rust to have my Battle Manager successfully create Combatant UI given a friend and a foe character resource. I did finally get it working, but I still don't quite understand why I needed to do it the way I did.

A few years ago at Norwescon, I lost my Chimmy convention badge. I really dug the style of badges @distressedegg.bsky.social was offering recently, so I got new ones of both Chimmy and Ada, and they turned out great!

A TODO comment I just wrote for a game dev project in Unity. It reads:

Right now, I'm not sure there is a division between persistent/transient scenes and UiToolkit/GameObject scenes to warrant having a field (or the equivalent enum).

In the first case, I think my current design moves all the "persistent" scenes to be singletons on the bootstrapper. So InkManager, SettingsMenuManager, PauseMenuManager, AudioManager would be singletons under bootstrapper. This does mean they will load and get ready on every scene including the main menu, but really only PauseMenuManager is the only one that does not need to be on the main menu, everything else does. But perhaps the GameObject for that could be disabled at first and then enabled/disabled when entering the main menu screen.

In the second case, I do foresee a use for if we wanted to add 3D scenes for parts. But we don't have that intention yet, so I feel it's fine to punt that work to when we do do that.

I thought the rule was that you had to be touched by an opposing player before a knee counts as being down... But I looked it up and in the NCAA 2011 rules, there's an explicit exception for when the kicker or holder does it

The explanation of the rule that a ball is declared dead when a player touches the ground with a part except his hand or foot, except when simulating a kick.
