Listening to Palace for the People and thank dog the murk is gone! So glad GVF went with another producer. This has that "love at first listen" vibe I haven't felt since AoTPA (which is not to say I don't love Garden's Gate, but it took a while to get there).

Big fan of Nathan's channel Acolytes of Horror and he's talking about one of my Top Five again and to see this public skewering of Christian! Primarily because I do think Midsommar is one of those movies where people tell on themselves so easily with their reactions. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGxJ...

Finally listening to the audiobook for Horror Movie, and I totally recommend this experience, it's like entering the story in a completely new way!

I think Tay needs to hear this: true crime and Dateline are the same genre, babe. Just sayin.'

Though we have entered the October Country, I wanted to note that last week I read CB McKenzie's Bad Country, which popped up thanks to the algorithm, and wow, it's everything I love in a noir. Have also purchased Burn What Will Burn and am holding myself back from devouring it immediately.

rewatching Something in the Dirt - first time since I first saw it - and I forgot what a perfect himbo Justin Benson plays, like utterly naturalistically believable.

@jordanharper.bsky.social - I re-read Love and Other Wounds last weekend and now am yearning for an Ozarks-set novel because I could read a hundred stories about Jackie Blue and Geat. Just sayin,' with respect. ❤️

Late as usual with these kinds of things, but I'm loving Lucro Sucio - Cedric is back in his natural range sounding better than ever, and Omar's experimentation continues, just in another direction. If I want bottled insanity I'll just go listen to Goliath but this is a whole-ass mood.

Watched High Society and as someone who grew up with The Philadelphia Story (I watched it on TV for the first time in my early teens) I just kept squirming and cringing (except for Louie, he was the best part). It's not terrible but it does prove that you can't duplicate what made TPS great.

I'm overjoyed the Sentient Orchid is having a moment because I had an idea years ago for a sort of Haggard/Howard pulpy jungle adventure pastiche where an ancient city full of orchids of a color that no one could describe was disturbed by explorers and seeking vengeance for their trespass.

One of the crazy things about reading particular subreddits where discussion of writing with AI takes place is they have to spend so much time getting the LLM to give them what they want and not once does it occur to any of them that they could have just WRITTEN a goddamn story.

It's likely been said many times before but I'll just say it again: Type O Negative is a band which requires REALLY GOOD headphones because when I say their recordings are layered like a mille crepe cake with elements that you might have never heard otherwise...it changes *everything.*

Experiencing that most Holy of activities for Summerween - watching Horror movies on the 4th of July - but I'm eight minutes into Dream Eaters and I already know that I don't care if this couple ends up dead. I mean, I know one of them will be, but I'm fine with both.

Finally watching Broadcast Signal Intrusion (precisely the kind of movie my autistic brain craves) and what I'm most taken by immediately is Ben Lovett's music which puts me more in mind of a '80s mystery film.

It's been a while since I've done this one...current ASMR obsessions: There is something in my eye and my friend uses a series of increasingly sharp objects to get it out. Existential crisis in the bathroom at a party with someone from Euphoria. Eating fried cheese in the food court of a dead mall.
