Had a great first day at TalosCon 2026 #Talos. Talos hypervisor looks real promising. Topf: github.com/postfinance/topf is a cool open-source alternative to the managing clusters problem. I’m looking forward to testing it out. And the presentation on how Talos Reconciliation works was […]

My new #WaveCeptor WV-59RD. This is probably my nerdiest watch, it has a radio receiver tuned to 60khz allowing for the watch to stay accurate just by syncing. This watch normally has a metal strap but I’ve swapped it for a NATO strap. #WatchOfTheDay

Reasonably sure Mastodon peeps like libraries and might like a peek at this wowzer I stepped into today. #DasCDMX

A look inside the Biblioteca Vasconcelos in Mexico City. There are columns of bookshelves seeming suspended at various levels from the ceiling with walkways connecting and that keep going into the far distance. Light from glass skylights many stories up and interior lighting are throughout. On the bottom floor, slightly lower than the camera vantage is the skeleton of a whale

Huge thanks to everyone who joined the Serverless Meetup and to Aleios and Moonpig for sponsoring and organising! A special shoutout to Ryan Cormack for his insightful talk on Smithy. I had a blast giving my talk and chatting with so many of you afterwards.

@mattl I’ll be honest I haven’t solved for auth in a long while so don’t know if the space has changed since. But last I looked bcrypt and argon2id was good enough. Also properly protecting those databases.
