Especially when those spaces are holding the line on censorship. FA is not perfect, and it likely never will be, but i believe they run the site with good intentions for the community, generally speaking.

In regard to FurAffinity being at risk due to censorship: Furries are now political targets. We are getting namedropped at high levels of government. They know that we are a large, influential, largely queer, community. Fighting for the spaces owned by our community is incredibly important

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

one last thing: be unapologetically you. Be weird. The louder you are about how weird you are, the more people want to silence you. I can’t say it enough. It’s a mantra But also…put yourself in other peoples shoes who are much different than you. It may unlock more weird. More love. Understanding

like I used to be pretty cold and I’ve realized that sure, It’s because I was partially groomed into reactionary moral stuff, but you can also *choose* to let that kinda stuff not rule your mind and live in real life. Make real friends. Hear stories unlike yours. fix your heart

I think once you embrace that you need to hear experiences different from your own + meet new people in your community and stop being such a “I don’t want to SEE x,y,z” your heart starts to get a little bit bigger

One of the furry community's originals, Roz Gibson, is in really big trouble. She is in kidney failure, and needs a donor, so please reskeet. www.furaffinity.net/journal/1138...

I’ve thought long and hard about making this post, but really, at this point, I don’t have much to lose. Desperate times, and all that.

TLDR version: I need a kidney transplant, and I’m looking for a donor. Read below for all the gory details.

Since late 2019, right before Covid hit, I’ve been battling a serious illness. I’ve been kind of cagey about what exactly is wrong, for a number of reasons, but here’s the truth—I’m in full kidney failure.

There is no history of this in my family, so when the symptoms began appearing I didn’t recognize them until it was too late. By the time I went to a doctor my kidney function had dropped into the single digits. Most kidney failure is caused by diabetes or high blood pressure—I got some weird kidney disease I can’t even pronounce and never heard of: Oxalate Nephropathy.

By adopting some dietary changes and careful monitoring, I was able to limp along with reduced kidney function for several years. But you don’t appreciate how much your kidneys do to keep you healthy until they stop working. There’s constant fatigue and nausea, and a general feeling of unwellness that never goes away.

But eventually I lost even what minimal function I had left, which left the end of the line for kidney disease: dialysis. As of this point I’ve been on dialysis for about 3 years. Let me tell you—dialysis is its own special kind of hell that you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy.

But even that is just a stop-gap measure, and my condition is continuing to get worse. Despite this, I’m trying my best to live as normal a life as possible. I’m extremely lucky I have a job that’s willing to allow me 9 hours a week for dialysis, so I’m still working. On weekends I work on my art and comics, and one or two days a month I do my volunteer work at the bird-banding site. I can even travel to see my family—if I arrange for dialysis at a local clinic ahead of time.

All of that is done while trying to deal with the symptoms of kidney failure. I’ve known 4 people who were on dialysis—none of them worked or really did much of anything, and at this point they’re all dead, which doesn’t really give me a lot of hope for my future.

Which brings us to the point of all this—I desperately need a kidney transplant. That is the only thing that will give me a chance at a relatively normal life. I’ve been approved and on the transplant list for a few years, but the waiting period in California is very long. By the time I get to the top of it, I may be too sick to get one. Right now I’m still in relatively good condition, comparatively. A transplant from a living donor lasts much longer and is better in every way than one you get from a deceased donor.

Unfortunately, everyone in my immediate family is too old or has other health problems that preclude donation. So this post is a desperate attempt to find anyone willing to donate. I realize donating a kidney is a lot different than giving ten bucks to a GoFundMe, but as I said at the beginning, at this point I don’t have much to lose by asking.

Here is the living donor site: https://www.uclahealth.org/medical-.....t/living-donor

You can inquire and even arrange to donate completely anonymously if that’s what you want. Hopefully there’s a Jack Salem fan out there who wants to see the stories (and the artist) continue for years to come.

That is all.

After this point, they will pressure the user into downloading a watch-party application from a different website to "join" them, and will continue to pressure the user to download it as well. This program goes by several names, but the most common ones are "Kippo" and "Fruitz". (4/10)

places we can't go -- #furry #furryart

Digital painting of a corridor in the backrooms with two doors and circular ceiling lights. The silhouette of an anthro deer in a skirt stands in front of an anthro boar, who sits on the ground. They both stare out at the back of the room, which suddenly opens up into a dim horizon with a beach, saturated pink and blue sunbeams reaching down through a dark cloudy sky. A security camera watches their every move.

Hey guys I gotta break down here and ask for some help. A share would be awesome thanks ko-fi.com/moopleaf

sketch of my dragon looking exhausted on the floor, waving a white flag with his tail

Since my tendon injury 2 years back I've been struggling keeping up with my queue backlog while trying to keep my head above water with no savings. I haven't been able to take much time out of catchup to take on other work or create things for passive income.

I've tried to keep hustling 5 days a week while managing repetitive stress, but recently went though a pretty serious PTSD episode and feel I'm pushing myself close to a breaking point. I'm asking for a little help so I can take a little more time for myself to recover while able to afford food and rent.

Thanks sm for reading (and sticking around even though my work has slowed to a snail's pace)
