New JCT analysis of the House-passed budget reconciliation bill is out. Under the GOP plan, more tax cuts go to millionaires than the entire half of America combined. This graph shows just the tax side. Include the Medicaid & SNAP cuts (which we'll get from CBO soon), & it's a cut for the poorest.

Percent change in after tax income for 2027. The tax cuts for the top 5% are much larger than for anyone else. The top 1% on average gets $70,542 tax cut.

Yes. I have heard this from both liberal and conservative people with sources inside the agency. It’s not just the pushback, it’s also that many officers want to believe they’re targeting the “bad guys” and this admin is telling them “screw you, grab families.” Genuinely, morale is way down.

As of June 1, nearly 25% of the people arrested by ICE in the interior and sent to detention had NO CRIMINAL RECORD. Data from the last six years, including 1.5 years of Trump's first term, reveals how this is completely unprecedented. It also helps explain the growing backlash.

The chart goes back to May 2019. From May 2019 through spring 2020, when COVID hits, the percentage hovers between 9% and 11%. It then drops to around 5% during COVID, which continues to be the broad baseline throughout most of Biden's term, occasionally jumping higher for a few weeks/months, but often returning to the 5-6% baseline. Then after Trump is elected, it jumps straight to 18% for a month, and then rises to 23% as of June 1.
