Reposted by KarjalaRepresentative Becca Balint @balint.house.gov · 21/09/2026For generations, Vermonters and Quebecers have shared families, communities, and deeply close connections. But even with that in mind, we’re still facing the fallout from stunts that Kristi Noem pulled, and we have small businesses that won’t survive this trade war. 67026
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 28/08/2026I believe that the name removing will occur as soon as Trump is no longer president. If he dies after the end of his presidency he will get to witness the name removals himself. 022
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 23/08/2026I do wonder what those who receive Clean Air Act exemptions expect to happen when Trump is no longer president. They'll ask for time - I really hope it is not granted. I so want the next administration to be hard asses with those who received favors from Trump. 000
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 19/08/2026A cousin had so much trouble with ticks (as we all do on Cape Cod) he created "Ticktogs", something like knee high socks, to trap and kill ticks. 000

Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 24/07/2026But if the House votes AGAINST Trump's war, how is the war legal, under the logic that Congress has to approve wars? While Trump argues he has authority under some law, it should be clear that an explicit veto by even ONE branch of congress should be sufficient to deny him that authority. 220
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 22/07/2026And we're fortunate Alaska is having a minimal fire season this year, otherwise the USA would be giving western Canada even more. 040
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 21/07/2026Though I've always felt that the Republican party of the American Civil War was a party opposed to the status quo - it was later, when it became the ruling party that it went through the process of becoming the vehicle of the rich and well connected to power. And it continued to evolve. 000

Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 27/06/2026How about all those in New England who suffer from Lyme disease or are afraid to enjoy the woods? Asking people who have already chosen to either ignore or, better, protect themselves from the tick population will not get you an unbiased response. 060

Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 21/06/2026The outing of the truth about the Iran school bombing may have to wait for a new administration, though a new Congress may be able to bring the truth to light. 040

Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 09/06/2026REQUIRES all that water for data centers? Disagree, it's a money choice. In my limited understanding, they are using the evaporation of water for cooling. If so, that is a CHOICE they make because they pay less for the water they evaporate away than they would pay for other methods of cooling. 4151
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 08/06/2026Hmmm, I can think of a few people who deserve that treatment when 'Antifa' comes into power if that becomes the norm. Of course, it'd be better not to start this tit for tat. 010
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 06/06/2026Don't we have almost as many Republican politicians voting in states other than those with their actualresidence? I know, probably not really, but the number is greater than zero. 220
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 15/05/2026Agree, fines for the rich are meaningless. It's like 'drop a ten' for regular people. Time in jail, on the other hand, has real meaning for everybody. Look at Trump as the outstanding example of the uselessness of financial penalties for the rich. 130
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 14/05/2026I'm surprised a utility is allowed to remove service. I guess different states, different laws. Incredibly bad 020
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 10/05/2026I do wonder what incentives look like from the Iran government's point of view. Do they see an advantage to them to string Trump along, knowing he is so desperate for something that he can call a victory? Is it to the Iranian government's interest to 'maintain' a weak president or see a new one? 020

Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 03/05/2026He's so young looking that they ask for his ID when he orders a drink? Of course, my mind goes to being in a bar and watching a state trooper going directly to a friend of mine to ask for ID. She was 36. He turned around and walked out of the bar. 000
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 03/05/2026I believe that a Democratic Congress and administration should react to the takeover of Alabama by 1850s racists by giving them no federal money, except that going to general programs such as Food Stamps. Remove as many federal facilities as possible. After all, isn't that what Donald Trump does? 010
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 02/05/2026Future Dem gov't could tell a state "Have fair elections, or lose." If a state gerrymanders so that no Democrats are elected to Congress it might find itself with no hands in the government pot. Gee, too bad, turn about is fair play when we've seen the Trump administration denying disaster $. 060
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 02/05/2026The move toward significant partisanship in elections might end up with hard asses running the federal government - no more give and take. No more 'because they need it'. What happens if one party really controls the government to the point where it is 'cooperate or else'? Really close now. 3100
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 29/04/2026I used to support the Biden approach - help those state which need it, even if not supporters. Now, not so much. MAGA 'Bite the hand that feeds you' has demonstrated we need a harsher approach. I feel uncomfortable adopting a more confrontational approach but here we are. Anger/what works? 050
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 29/04/2026It may be that the only effective method to minimize the power of gerrymandering is to dramatically expand the size of Congress. Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 28/04/2026Yup, but I'll keep dreaming that almost everything, even military procurement, can be better even while my expectations are quite low. 000
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 28/04/2026A bunker cannot protect a person forever unless those with power are not willing to act. Trump may be building a bunker to protect himself in the short term - on the other hand, he may be seeking to emulate Hitler to the end. Another 'monument'. 261

Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 22/04/2026And I remember when the court ruled that having everybody say the Lord's Prayer at the start of school was unconstitutional. And I was starting to memorize it, too (ha ha). How times, and the court, have changed. Sigh ... 000
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 21/04/2026Trump stating "I'm surprised, because they are really rich." lays out his view of the world in one sentence. In Trump's view being rich means not being held accountable or suffering any bad outcomes. 0101
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 21/04/2026I would like to assume that military procurement for expendable items like missiles and ammunition would require a peace time rate of production that could be readily (planned) increased in times of war. Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 11/04/2026It is no excuse to say "The Republicans won't convict in the Senate." Make those Republicans in both the House and Senate vote their support for criminality and the destruction of the United States. Giving up before the fight means that a Senator or Representative should NOT be in Congress. 120
Karjala @chenaridge.bsky.social · 11/04/2026Presidential pardons - one could argue that a pardon issued after the president has been impeached, though before he has been convicted by the Senate, to be invalid once he has been convicted. This would seem to particularly apply if one of the charges was accepting bribes for issuing pardons. 152
