BY JAMES BALDWIN

In a strange house, a strange bed in a strange town, a very strange me is waiting for you.

Just as the birds above our heads circling are singing, knowing that, in what lies before them, the always unknown passage, wind, water, air, the failing light the failing night the blinding sun they must get the journey done. Listen.

They have wings and voices are making choices are using what they have. They are aware that, on long journeys, each bears the other, whirring, stirring love occuring

Do not stand By my grave, and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep- I am the thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints in snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle, autumn rain. - Clare Herner #Poetry 💙📚👀

Kansas native Clare Harner (1909-1977) first published "Immortality" in the December 1934 issue of poetry magazine The Gypsy[1] and was reprinted in their February 1935 issue:

Do not stand By my grave, and weep.

I am not there,

I do not sleep-

I am the thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints in snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle, autumn rain. As you awake with morning's hush, I am the swift, up-flinging rush Of quiet birds in circling flight, I am the day transcending night.

Do not stand By my grave, and cry-

I am not there,

I did not die.

Small talk is not for me. .... Give me words shaped by oceans, by valleys, by the salt of what it costs to be human. Paint the sky with your words; let your whole body smile. Show up in your holiday shimmer, ... but also your grit, your honest, trembling truth. - Kaylin Weir #Poetry 💙📚👀

Small talk is not for me.

Give me big talk, deep talk, sun, moon, and stars talk.

Tell me what finds you at 3 a.m. when your ghosts come asking questions. Tell me what gets you up anyway, the flicker you follow, the dream you still refuse to set down.

Give me words shaped by oceans, by valleys, by the salt of what it costs to be human.

Paint the sky with your words; let your whole body smile. Show up in your holiday shimmer, your garlands, your glow, all sparkle and shine, but also your grit, your honest, trembling truth.

Come exactly as you are. Just, please, leave your small talk at the door. Life is too short for anything less than real.

Unborn ones, take nothing for granted. Not nectar, not thirst. May your lives be uneclipsed, your failures be passing. May you have your portions of beauty, of grief, in a garden whose plants and birds I cannot imagine. - Jane Hirshfield #Poetry 💙📚👀

I speak with the future. by Jane Hirshfield

We sit on our skeletons' bones. We hear with our skeletons' bones. We speak of beauty by moving our jaws and our teeth.

The original meaning of Paradise: a place, a walled garden. Our lives, our stories, this hour inside one. A staircase from Piranesi. A hummingbird drinking.

Outside it, vanishing species and rivers. Outside it, Nanjing, Ninevah, Dresden.

Outside it, Gaza, Sudan, Myanmar, Kyiv. Here.

The world starts and ends, starts, ends, ends again, restarts.

A kalpa is brief, and wall-less.

Unborn ones, take nothing for granted.

Not nectar, not thirst.

May your lives be uneclipsed, your failures be passing.

May you have your portions of beauty, of grief, in a garden whose plants and birds I cannot imagine.

$ALL THAT'S REQUIRED OF YOU Did you know there will be poppies again this year? It's true. Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

The View From The River Bed popped into my mind while resting with my eyes shut for my usual number of 3-5 hours one afternoon. It is drawn with bronze & white gel pens, but the photo makes the bronze look orange. #drawing #chronicillness #chronicpain #chronicfatigue #ME/CFS #mecfs #art ✍🏻 🐟 🐠 🛌

A drawing in metallic bronze gel pen (though the photo makes the bronze look orange) on black paper of a dull looking fish lying on a bed amongst rocks at the bottom of the page, with with the words: the view from the river bed. Swimming up towards the surface of the river, and swimming along with the flow of collaged blue water (torn from a magazine), and even leaping out of the water, are all kinds of patterned fish drawn in white gel pen.

How to avoid sexual assault! A QUICK AND EASY GUIDE*

sexual violence centre cork

1 DON'T PUT DRUGS IN PEOPLE'S DRINKS

4 WHEN YOU SEE A WOMAN WALKING BY HERSELF, LEAVE HER ALONE.

3 WHEN YOU COME ACROSS SOMEONE WHO IS DRUNK OR ASLEEP, THE BEST THING TO DO IS NOT RAPE THEM.

6 CARRY A WHISTLE. IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT RAPE SOMEONE, BLOW THE WHISTLE UNTIL SOMEONE COMES TO STOP YOU.

2 USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM! IF YOU CAN'T STOP YOURSELF FROM SEXUALLY ASSAULTING SOMEONE, ASK A TRUSTED FRIEND TO ACCOMPANY YOU AT ALL TIMES TO STOP YOU.

Extraordinary to see ME covered like this in mainstream media. The truth is the neglect is so staggering people can't believe it. As George says " has seldom been a stronger case for a public inquiry." 🖇️article 👇

Across the decades, millions of people have been neglected, dismissed and mistreated, and still it goes on. We need to ask why so many patients have been abandoned, why discredited and dangerous treatments continue to be prescribed and why ignorance and neglect still dominate, in the health system and beyond. In other words, there has seldom been a stronger case for a public inquiry.

Low Tide Reveals a Migraine - one of my more recent poems. #poetry #creativewriting #migraine #Headache #chronicpain #chronicillness #nature #invisibleillness #mecfs

The background is a stock photo of a beach with rocks in the sand and sea. Taped to this odd a rectangle of paper with blue text that reads as follows:

Low Tide Reveals a Migraine

My left eye socket is a rock pool in the granite boulder of my skull
granite ridged cheekbone
granite planed brow
radioactive stone.
My eyeball, once submerged, I now find is
swelling, over-filling,
pressing up against spiny urchin
tight against granite rim
pushing brackish overspill
that I scrutinise for new life forms while waiting for the tide to turn.

Just lying on the couch and being happy. Only humming a little, the quiet sound in the head. Trouble is busy elsewhere at the moment, it has so much to do in the world. - William Stafford #Poetry 💙📚👀

Any Morning William Stafford

Just lying on the couch and being happy. Only humming a little, the quiet sound in the head. Trouble is busy elsewhere at the moment, it has so much to do in the world.

People who might judge are mostly asleep; they can't monitor you all the time, and sometimes they forget. When dawn flows over the hedge you can get up and act busy.

Little corners like this, pieces of Heaven left lying around, can be picked up and saved. People won't even see that you have them, they are so light and easy to hide.

Later in the day you can act like the others. You can shake your head. You can frown.

When everyone had gone I sat in the library With the small silent tree, She and I alone. How softly she shone!

And for the first time then For the first time this year, I felt reborn again, I knew love's presence near.

Love distant, love detached And strangely without weight, Was with me in the night When everyone had gone And the garland of pure light Stayed on, stayed on.

Unrequited By Sachi

I trench through frozen dirt and scorching heat, carving deep channels to lay the irrigation pipes, hauling water to ensure every stem survives. I bleed into the soil, yet all these flowers offer in return is the bite of thorns dragging across my skin, their tangled roots strangling the work I buried. Yet when they finally open, I look at the raised scars on my palms without regret. I touch them with joy, knowing no devotion spent is ever wasted And You, like the flower, wearing petals, I nearly died to grow, never once asking whose blood watered your roots I cheer for you with joy For I know no love spent is ever wasted

To the Young Who Want to Die

Sit down. Inhale. Exhale.

The gun will wait. The lake will wait.

The tall gall in the small seductive vial will wait will wait:

will wait a week: will wait through April.

You do not have to die this certain day.

Death will abide, will pamper your postponement. I assure you death will wait. Death has a lot of time. Death can attend to you tomorrow. Or next week. Death is

just down the street; is most obliging neighbor;

can meet you any moment.

You need not die today.

Stay here-through pout or pain or peskyness.

Stay here. See what the news is going to be tomorrow.

Graves grow no green that you can use. Remember, green's your color. You are Spring.

In this immeasurable darkness, be the power that rounds your senses in their magic ring, the sense of their mysterious encounter. And if the earthly no longer knows your name, whisper to the silent earth: I'm flowing. To the flashing water say: I am. - Rilke #Poetry 💙📚👀

Silent friend of many distances, feel

by Rainer Maria Rilke

English version by Stephen Mitchell

Original Language German

Silent friend of many distances, feel how your breath enlarges all of space. Let your presence ring out like a bell into the night. What feeds upon your face

grows mighty from the nourishment thus offered. Move through transformation, out and in. What is the deepest loss that you have suffered? If drinking is bitter, change yourself to wine.

In this immeasurable darkness, be the power that rounds your senses in their magic ring, the sense of their mysterious encounter.

And if the earthly no longer knows your name, whisper to the silent earth: I'm flowing. To the flashing water say: I am.
