The "social contagion" thing drives me screaming angry. When I was young I had no clue trans ppl existed. I'd never met anyone trans. I saw cruel caricatures in pop culture occasionally. When I realized trans was a thing someone could be, it hit like a lightning bolt. My life felt newly possible.

Fascinating. "Intelligence" part of "AI" means it should understand nuance. An army of reviewers shifting, prodding, propping, adjusting means they're perfecting the people-facing end for it to seem more nuanced and intelligent, because the back end ain't intelligent.

This is a lovely sketchbook I was assessing yesterday - by Welsh artist Calvert “Richard the Rev” Jones, largely of maritime scenes. He lived in Swansea so many are of the sea there in 1828-1831, elegantly rendered. But there’s a couple of nice bonuses in the book…
