My New Year’s last year resolution last year was to change my diet and lose 15 pounds. I lost 15 pounds. And gained 9 pounds. And lost 6. And gained 5. And lost 2. Maybe this year I should focus on getting into shape instead, and hope the pounds come off. And stay off.

I once got into a fistfight with a friend. That night my mom saw I was down and pitied me for getting beat up. She let me watch a movie by myself in her bed. I cried. Not because I got beat up. But because I got into a fight with my best friend and no one understood why that was upsetting me.
