#Severance is brilliant for just the storyline, but then there is the design aspect. Every episode I grab my collection of Dieter Rams books to find yet another beautiful design relic from the previous century, used in the series. For example the TS45/TG60/L450 attached to the wall in Gemma’s room.

FS 80, 1964
Black-and-white television set
Dieter Rams
Braun
Whether placed on a table or used as
a free-standing device on a stand,
this television set, with its curved, fully
visible picture screen, clearly draws
on the design of its predecessor, the
FS 1000 prototype from 1962 (p. 103).
The loudspeaker and the controls
are located in a lower panel below the
screen, where the slotted speaker
grille is also placed. Following Hans
Gugelot's first TV design for Braun in
1955, which featured a visible wooden
chassis, the FS 80 presents an elegant
and clearly defined form that could be
equated with the 'bel design' culture
being championed by the Italian
design industry and companies such
as Olivetti during the 1960s. The FS 80
was produced in a run of 3,000 units.
66.5 × 59 × 37.5 cm (26¼ × 23¼ x
14¾ in)
35 kg (77¼ |b)
Laminated wood, plastic, aluminium

Also in the series: FS 80-1 (1965-6)
